As a Senior Software Engineerfor Health100, you will play a crucial role within a collaborative team - designing, developing, andmaintainingbackend services and APIs while ensuring releases are well-coordinated, fully prepared, and successfully deployed to production. The ideal candidate brings strong technicalexpertisein modern backend development, excellent problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to production monitoring,issuetriage, and cross-team coordination.This position is critical inmaintaininghigh engineering standards, ensuring smooth release cycles, and driving operational excellence across the development lifecycle.

*This role can be based anywhere in the US; hybrid or remote with preference for candidates to work out of our corporate headquarters in Woonsocket, RI.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with technical leaders and the open-source community to contribute to technical designs, frameworks, roadmap definition, andrequirements-gathering.

  • Provide domain knowledge and engineering insight to guide early designs, accelerate project decision-making, andmaintainclose oversight of technical execution.

  • Encourage andmaintainengineering excellencewithinthe team to build reliable distributed systems that our customers can build their business on.

  • Plot and execute on the path from prototype to production for features.

  • Collaborate with business, product, architecture, security, digital, and engineering teams to deliver innovative solutions that address customer needs, solve complex challenges, and drive continuous improvement.

  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture by demonstrating ownership, accountability, and enthusiasm while contributing to automation initiatives and supporting high-performing remote teams.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+yearsof Java development experience utilizingSpring Boot and/or Spring MVCwith ability to work in Cloud platforms such as GCP, Azureand end-to-end DevOps pipeline.

  • 3+ experience developing andmaintainingRESTful APIs, microservices, and backend systems.

  • Strong skills in relational and/or NoSQL databases.

  • Strong foundationin software engineering: problem solving, data structures,algorithms,patterns, concurrency, agile methodologies and sprint planning best practices.

  • Experience coordinating release cycles, preparing release notes, and ensuring all development tasks and dependencies are tracked.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Healthcare domain experience-e.g.PBM/NCPDP/HIPAA.

  • Prior experience in a hybrid role involving both software development and release/operations management.

  • Experience with an Application and Performance Monitoring platform.

  • Knowledge of message queues and event-driven architectures (Pub/Sub, Kafka, etc.).

  • Experience with SRE or DevOps practices, including incident management and root-cause analysis.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience (Highschool diploma plus 4 years relevant work experience).

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$92,700.00 - $203,940.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
