Torch Technologies is seeking a Senior Software Test Engineer who provides technical oversight for software testing and verification of a complex, next-generation Army aviation platform. This position will oversee supplier verification to drive Army Software Airworthiness qualification for advanced avionics and mission systems. The Sr. Software Test Engineer will evaluate contractor test programs from Formal Qualification Testing (FQT) through System Integration Laboratory (SIL) and flight test execution, ensuring compliance with aviation standards.

As a Senior Software Test Engineer your duties will include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee OEM and supplier Formal Qualification Testing (FQT) and high-level requirements-based testing to ensure compliance with DO-178C and DO-254 objectives.

  • Evaluate contractor-delivered software life cycle data and verification artifacts for completeness and airworthiness compliance.

  • Provide government oversight for milestone reviews, including software Test Readiness Reviews (TRR) and FQT.

  • Support Stage of Involvement (SOI) audits to assure software and Airborne Electronic Hardware (AEH) development processes meet airworthiness objectives.

  • Oversee the transition of incremental software releases from SIL environments into active flight test environments.

  • Evaluate contractor testing efforts supporting Army Airworthiness Release (AWR) and Safety of Flight (SOF) compliance through continuous test-fix-test cycles.

  • Evaluate verification of next-generation software architectures, including MOSA compliance and FACE conformance.

  • Iteratively improve test oversight processes for maximum efficiency across the acquisition lifecycle.

  • Develop briefing materials, distilling complex technical data into clear recommendations for senior leadership.

  • Proactively identify software integration risks and resolve testing bottlenecks across the supply chain.

Required Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of relevant experience

  • Active Secret clearance

  • Experience providing technical oversight and evaluating software FQT in a defense acquisition environment.

  • Deep familiarity with aviation software standards (specifically DO-178C and DO-254).

  • Experience building technical oversight processes and evaluating SIL testing procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree is preferred.

  • Experience with next-generation military aviation acquisition programs

  • Familiarity with Agile software development frameworks, specifically Disciplined Agile Delivery (DAD), and iterative test methodologies.

  • Familiarity with Multi-Core Processor (MCP) and Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) certification objectives.

  • Experience auditing against FACE and MOSA directives.

  • Experience leading or working within Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).

  • Advanced knowledge of Army airworthiness, system safety, and materiel release processes.
