Job description

Senior Engineer

Pratt & Whitney Controls & Diagnostic Systems (CDS) is a dynamic engineering organization focused on the development and certification of military and commercial gas turbine engine control and diagnostic systems. CDS is responsible for all aspects of Pratt & Whitney engine control and diagnostic system development and support, including requirements analysis & definition, system & software architecture, algorithm design, product software design, verification & validation and engine and flight test support.

The CDS organization is seeking a highly motivated, team oriented, and results driven Senior Engineer to join the Engine System Software organization.

The qualified candidate will be responsible for:

  • Develop software requirements and designs within the Agile Framework
  • Decompose system level and customer interface requirements into software requirements and designs
  • Document traceability or rationale for derived requirements and designs
  • Conduct iterative prototype testing of requirements and designs
  • Perform reviews of requirements and designs
  • Participate in software planning, estimating and tracking
  • Produce software requirement and design specifications
  • Perform software verification within the Agile Framework:
  • Conduct regression analysis to determine verification scope
  • Develop / review software test descriptions with traceability to software requirements
  • Develop and execute electronic bench test scripts
  • Evaluate / review test results
  • Execute robustness testing
  • Execute low-level module/object testing
  • Conduct Verification Reviews
  • Produce Verification Reports
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies
  • Participate in software planning, estimating and tracking per Agile framework
  • Potential to serve as Agile Scrum Master and/or part of the Development Team

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • 5 years of engineering experience or 3 years with an advanced degree

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Controls Systems development and support
  • Solid track record of achieving results in a technical role
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, high pressure engineering environment
  • Prior experience developing software in an Agile framework
  • Prior safety critical software development experience
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards such as DO178B
  • Outstanding cross discipline communication skills
  • Familiarity with jet engine control and diagnostic system architectures and control logic design
