The power generation market continues to grow and evolve given strong capacity demand signals that haven't existed for over a decade.  As a result, our national Power Generation team is poised for monumental growth.  We are seeking a qualified Senior Project Manager to help our clients develop, contract, and implement natural gas and potentially renewable energy generation projects while serving as Owner's Engineer and/or Advisor.     

As a Senior Project Manager, you will be joining a highly capable, multi-discipline national team that supports power and energy projects within the industrial, IPP, developer, and utility power and energy industry. The Senior Project Manager will be a seller-doer who helps maintain client relationships, brings in projects, develops strategies and plans for performing the work, monitors and communicates status of the project, and leads multi-discipline project teams to successful completion of the work.   

This role requires significant client interaction (from pre-positioning for the work through project completion) and strong verbal and written communication skills as needed for regular interaction with internal staff such as project team members, marketing staff, and operations leadership. The ideal candidate will have significant experience with utility scale power generation systems including simple cycle and combined cycle plants.

Responsibilities of the Senior Project Manager include:

  • Develop and maintain positive and proactive client relationships.
  • Achieve project schedule, quality, and profitability goals.
  • Serve as proposal champion/manager and assist with proposal preparation, review of contract terms and conditions, and evaluate risks associated with the services being offered.
  • Provide daily leadership to the project team and technical staff in completion of project activities.
  • Provide regular communication and coordination within the project team and with the client such that the project work plan and the client's expectations on deliverables are understood and aligned. Monitor project deliverables for quality, completeness and conformance to the client's expectations.
  • Proactively monitor and maintain the project budget and schedule. Develop appropriate recovery plans in the event of potential shortfalls.
  • Monitor the contracted scope of work and identify scope changes.
  • Provide training and mentoring to project team staff on project management and project consulting issues.
  • Guide design or consulting work in the manager's area of engineering expertise.
  • Routinely report project progress to the local and regional accounting and operations team.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering; or combination of Degree and Relevant Project Experience.  
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant power generation project experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer
  • PMP Certification 
  • Experience designing or managing simple cycle and combined cycle EPC projects as owner, owner's engineer, OEM, or EPC contractor.  
  • Have the ability to handle multiple concurrent projects. 
  • Demonstrated business development skills. 
  • Good communication, leadership, planning, and mentoring skills.
  • MS Office, Adobe, and other relevant software experience.
