Job description

What You Will Do:
At Independent Software, as a Software Engineer Level 3, you will design, develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems supporting mission-critical operations and advanced technical environments. You will work on highly technical projects involving processing-intensive analytics, real-time systems, large-scale data processing, and enterprise software solutions.
You will contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and system design through development, testing, integration, deployment, and sustainment. This position includes front-end development using Angular and RxJS, as well as opportunities to work with modern Java, containerization, and DevOps technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, test, maintain, and enhance complex software systems and applications
  • Analyze user and system requirements and translate them into software design and performance requirements
  • Develop new software and modify existing software to add features, correct defects, and improve performance
  • Develop and support front-end applications using Angular and RxJS
  • Design and implement complex algorithms, database interfaces, and data queries
  • Integrate existing software into new or modified systems and operating environments
  • Develop and execute test procedures and ensure software meets design and quality requirements
  • Troubleshoot software defects, performance issues, and system integration problems
  • Support software architecture and system design, including hardware/software trade-off analysis and COTS/GOTS integration
  • Collaborate with system engineers, hardware engineers, users, and other technical teams
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to software development teams and support quality control of developed and modified software
  • Develop and maintain software and system documentation
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience developing, maintaining, and enhancing complex software systems
  • Recent front-end development experience with Angular and RxJS
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles, methodologies, and best practices
  • Experience with software development, testing, debugging, and system integration
  • Experience developing complex algorithms, database interfaces, or data-driven applications
  • Ability to analyze technical requirements and develop scalable software solutions
  • Experience working with Linux, UNIX, or Windows development environments
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and work effectively within software development teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Education and Experience:
Candidates must meet one of the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university plus twelve (12) years of Software Engineering experience supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity; OR
  • Sixteen (16) years of relevant Software Engineering experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree.

Clearance Requirement:
  • Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role
