Job description

Containers are redefining how our customers are building, deploying, and running their applications. Do you want to join the Amazon Container Services team and help customers by building the future of serverless containers on AWS Fargate.
ECS dataplane is looking for a software development manager to lead the team owning critical software stack governing the lifecycle of tasks running on containers used by major AWS services.
We are looking for a self-motivated, strong and people focused Software Development Manager within the ECS Storage and Networking group

ECS is a container orchestration service that lets customers to focus on running containerized applications without necessarily managing servers by removing the operational overhead of scaling, patching, securing, and managing servers. The ECS Dataplane group owns systems, services and process to manage infrastructure on which ECS executes customer workloads including infrastructure setup, capacity management, patching and efficiency programs.
Key job responsibilities
3+ years of engineering team management experience
7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
Experience operating mission-critical customer-facing services
Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
