Job Description:
Job Summary
Under direct supervision the Employment Center Operations Manager is responsible for leading, directing and supporting the employment operations for Administrative Operations (AO) on the West Lafayette Campus. The center is responsible for working with Business Office and AO on all payroll/employment related needs in their areas. This position will serve as a key resource/liaison to these areas and with Central Payroll on all payroll/employment related matters. It will oversee and lead the team in payroll/employment related processes and ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll actions.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Manage the day-to-day workload of the team to ensure payroll/employment processes are followed as well maintain integrity of payroll.
  • Manage development and communication of dashboard metrics related to employment processes.
  • Contribute to the redesign and implement business process improvements.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service to all areas serviced by the center.

This is a hybrid position with a combination of remote and on-campus work.
What We're Looking For:
Required:
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, or related field of study.
  • One year of payroll, budget, accounting, or related experience.

Skills Needed:
  • Good understanding of accounting principles as well as payroll processes, related benefits and policies.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication (oral & written), leadership, planning, problem-solving, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels.
  • Able to foster a participative supervisory style and teamwork to successfully guide the work of others.
  • Personal computer and related skills (i.e. Word, Excel).
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills to solve complex problems with little or no precedent.
  • Ability to compile, analyze, and synthesize data into a clear, precise format and presentation.
  • Able to manage the production of timely and accurate reports based on customer requirements.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet frequent deadlines.

What is Helpful:
  • Six or more credit hours of accounting coursework.
  • University experience.
  • Working knowledge of educational and/or accounts receivable software such as SAP, Concur, Ariba, Cognos Reporting, etc.
  • Knowledge of University, state, federal and agency policy and procedures.
