What you will do
Role Overview:

The Operations Manager will oversee operations and maintenance activities of EDPRโ€™s wind power generation facilities and lead daily ownership representation.ย 

Main responsibilities:
  • Manage all operations and maintenance activities for balance-of-plant (BOP) assets within established operating guidelines for projects 100 โ€“ 400 megawatts in sizeย 
  • โ€ข Interface with local communities to establish and maintain rapportย 
  • โ€ข Oversee the designated facilitiesโ€™ operations, maintenance-related contracts, and agreements for sites under warrantyย 
  • โ€ข Manage turbine operations and maintenance for sites off-warrantyย 
  • โ€ข Facilitate daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reporting in accordance with operational, safety, regulatory, and environmental performance requirementsย 
  • โ€ข Monitor each facilityโ€™s performance in terms of comparison with expected results and key performance indicatorsย 
  • โ€ข Engage appropriate internal and external resources as performance issues may requireย 
  • โ€ข Represent the company locally before interconnection and customer entitiesย 
  • โ€ข Represent the company in landowner and community relationshipsย 
  • โ€ข Work closely with equipment suppliers and service entities as neededย 
  • โ€ข Monitor generating equipment for proper function, service, and repairsย 
  • โ€ข Identify and engage contractors for facilitiesโ€™ balance-of-plant maintenanceย 
  • โ€ข Ensure that on-site activities at each facility are conducted in a safety-conscious mannerย 
  • โ€ข Ensure that quality electronic communication is established and maintained at each facilityย 
  • โ€ข Monitor new facility construction and commissioning activitiesย 
  • โ€ข Ensure adherence to best practices and delivery of the optimal productย 
  • โ€ข Interface with Engineering, Accounting, and Development staff and other individuals, both internal and external, as neededย 
  • โ€ข Maximize performance and ensure value retention for each facilityย 
  • โ€ข Monitor contractor performance and ensure quality and adherence to the highest standards in work practicesย 
  • โ€ข Conduct and report on periodic meetings with contractors and partnersย 
  • โ€ข Ensure reliability of the Bulk Electric Systemย 
  • โ€ข Ensure compliance with site environmental regulations pertaining to hazardous waste, oil spill prevention, avian studies, and wildlife conservationย

What are we looking for
Minimum Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelorโ€™s degree in a related field strongly preferredย 
  • 5 โ€“ 7 years relevant experience, preferably in wind energyย 
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software and database applicationย 
  • Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise. (Preferred).ย

Behavioral Requirements:
  • Ability to quickly understand the basics of a variety of subjects relating to wind and solar energy including resource studies, environmental and cultural studies, transmission issues, public relations, public policy, sales, and civil and electrical engineeringย 
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skillsย 
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skillsย 
  • Understanding of basic financial principles (IRR, NPV, Depreciation, etc)ย 
  • High attention to detail and ability to multi-taskย 
  • Ability to be self-motivated and perform job tasks in a relatively unstructured environment with little supervisionย 
  • Ability to travel as neededย 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skillsย 
Physical demands & working conditions:
  • Sitting/Standing/Flexibility:โ€ฏAbility to frequently perform physical tasks including standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching approximately 75% of the time while on wind farm sites; ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environmentย 
  • Walking:โ€ฏAbility to walk .25 to .5 miles per day, including across unpaved and rough surfaces when on wind farm sites.ย 
  • Speech/Reading:โ€ฏโ€ฏAbility to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule formย 
  • Lifting:โ€ฏAbility to frequently lift items weighing up to 10 pounds and to occasionally lift items weighing between 20 and 40 poundsย 
  • Climbing:ย 
  • Ability to climb turbine towersย 
  • Weight, including harness and tools, must be in accordance with the weight limit as specified by the ANSI Fall Protection Standardsย 
  • Vision/Hearing:โ€ฏAbility to interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule formย 
  • Tolerance to Extreme Weather Conditions:โ€ฏAbility to work in adverse weather conditions 25% of the time while on wind farm sitesย 
  • Safety:โ€ฏAbility to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessaryย
