The intern will work closely with thermal engineers to support ongoing space systems development projects through a combination of thermal insight activities and thermal analysis/modeling.
This position is intended to provide immersive engineering experience, with responsibilities split between the thermal analysis insight support and performing various analysis and technical documentation tasks. The intern will contribute directly to real NASA programs focused on the Human Lander System program, gaining exposure to hardware in a professional environment.
Typical projects may include organization of requirements documentation assessments from commercial partners, thermal analysis model development, and conducting thermal verification planning. These activities will be for hardware at various stages of its development.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist thermal engineers with thermal verification activities for proposed hardware designs of commercial partners and/or NASA
  • Participate in review of technical data and requirements
  • Perform thermal design and analysis using engineering tools, spreadsheets, and/or simulation software such as Thermal Desktop.
  • Support development and maintenance of thermal models and test documentation.
