Accounting Supervisor

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accounting Supervisor to lead our accounting team and work closely with the CFO in overseeing financial operations. This pivotal role involves managing accounting processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and driving accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive approach to financial management, possess strong accounting skills, and demonstrate leadership in mentoring team members. Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and ensure timely, accurate reporting.
  • Manage the general ledger accounting process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing activities.
  • Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, optimizing cash flow management and vendor relationships.
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis, including balance sheet reconciliation, cash flow analysis, and variance reporting to support strategic planning.
  • Mentor and develop accounting staff by providing guidance on accounting standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on budgeting, forecasting, and financial software implementation to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in multi-property corporate accounting with a strong understanding of GAAP.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Appfolio or similar platforms; advanced skills in Google Suite including spreadsheets for financial analysis are essential.
  • Strong knowledge of double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, account reconciliation processes and audits.
  • Experience with financial report writing, interpretation of financial statements, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and standards.
  • Excellent leadership skills with a track record of mentoring teams and fostering professional development within an accounting environment.
  • Five (5) years of accounting experience.
