Position Overview
As a customs entry writer, your primary responsibilities are to review import and export documents, ensure that all customs invoices and shipment papers are present, and prepare paperwork for clearance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Use specialized software to track inventory
  • Sign brokerage documents
  • Organize customs rejections
  • Answer client customs questions
  • Complete clerical duties and monitor the processing for goods going through customs
  • Utilize benchmarks to procure transportations services at rates that are competitive to CJL
  • May be required to be on call and work as part of a Saturday rotation
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate with Korean-speaking clients to ensure seamless customs clearance and documentation
  • Perform other related job duties as assigned or required

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience or a high school diploma/GED
  • 1 year of Customs Brokerage Experience
  • Competency in Microsoft Office and Google applications analyst
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively via email, phone, and during face to face meetings
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Bilingual skills are essential for this role
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion and function independently, within authorized limit

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in Freight Forwarding, supply chain, or logistics operations

Work Environment
This is largely a sedentary role requiring the physical ability to:
  • Sit for prolonged periods of time at a desk while working on a computer
  • Use hands and fingers to operate a keyboard, mouse, and telephone

  • Occasionally stand, walk, reach, stoop, or lift up to 10 pounds

This position operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and printers.
The work environment is typically quiet to moderate in noise level and is climate controlled.
Location Eligibility
This role is based out of the Holland, MI office. Regular, on-site presence is required (4) days per week or as otherwise directed by the company.
Schedule
Standard office hours at 8:30AM - 5PM Monday through Friday. There may be flexibility regarding start and end times.
Work hours may vary and may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime based on business needs.
