Job description

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Progressive, forward-thinking individual who can support the Engineering Director and the Team, and assume immediate charge of developing, managing, and optimizing capital improvement projects associated with the operation and maintenance of a large industrial manufacturing facility. Developing and controlling the full project-plan lifecycle to maximize project efficiency and profitability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop budgets as required to justify and ultimately execute capital projects.
  • Establish project, objectives, procedures, data collection methods, and performance standards within parameters of company standards and policy.
  • Prepare scheduled or necessary updates of construction activities and determine personnel, equipment, and material requirements.
  • Create and administer testing protocols for monitoring project performance.
  • Manage compliance with standards and specifications for quality control and assurance.
  • Develop scope and parameters for project design and implementation.
  • Identify project responsibilities, delegating phases and elements to the appropriate team members.
  • Oversee and coordinate external partners and service providers to ensure project deliverables, timelines, and budgets are met while maintaining compliance with company standards and regulations.
  • Oversee budgetary, scheduling, and project databases, and report regularly to Director of Engineering on progress as well as any concerns that could significantly affect cost or schedule.
  • Performs other related projects and assignments as business dictates.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management to meet deadlines and adapt to unforeseen situations.
  • Advanced analytical skills with the proven ability to communicate complex data to various stakeholders.
  • High proficiency utilizing scheduling, cost estimating and budget management software.
  • Strong computer competency and proficiency in MS Office Suite.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or relevant discipline, from an Accredited Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) institution.
  • Ten or more years of experience in project management, project engineering, or project planning (scope, schedule, cost, quality) within industrial manufacturing facilities.
  • Working towards achieving the Professional Engineer (PE) License is a plus.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
  • Experience utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Experience with 3D modelling platforms, preferably focused on industrial process-based design.
  • Proficiency utilizing Project Management Body of Knowledge (MBOK) terminology and standardization.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Regular attendance is required during your schedule shift.
  • Must be able to perform all duties within an environment that includes heat, stairs, ramps, uneven walking surfaces, noise, and dust.
  • Must be able to perform all duties within the power plant operations, which includes bending, steps, kneeling, reaching, and crawling.
  • Occasional lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
