The Role:


As Director, DevOps, you will set the strategy, architecture, roadmap and operating model for CPP Investments' enterprise DevOps platform ecosystem. Reporting to the Managing Director, Cloud Platforms, you will lead a multidisciplinary team and serve as the overall Product Owner and Technology Area Lead for DevOps, advancing engineering excellence, platform adoption, DevSecOps, automation and AI-enabled software delivery across Technology & Data.

The Team:


The Cloud Platforms function provides scalable, resilient and secure technology platforms that enable Technology & Data teams to deliver enterprise capabilities effectively. The DevOps team supports the organization's modern developer experience by enabling teams to build, secure, test, release and operate software at scale, with accountability for enterprise CI/CD, Quality Engineering tooling, developer tooling, and developer generative AI and agentic capabilities.

Accountabilities

  • Own the enterprise DevOps platform, with end-to-end accountability for strategy, product vision, architecture, roadmap and capabilities across CI/CD, Quality Engineering, Infrastructure as Code, secure coding, secrets management, container orchestration, observability, workflow management, developer AI and middleware platforms

  • Define and advance DevOps and Quality Engineering maturity across Technology & Data by establishing target practices, success measures and adoption plans that improve how software is built, tested, deployed, observed and operated

  • Champion an AI-first approach to software delivery by simplifying, automating and enabling agentic workflows across the software development lifecycle, while establishing appropriate governance, guardrails, cost management and value measurement

  • Lead DevSecOps by embedding secure-by-design capabilities, automated quality and security controls, and shift-left practices in partnership with Information Security, while maintaining developer experience and production stability

  • Operate the platform as a product by defining roadmaps, initiatives, OKRs and measures for developer experience, cycle time, adoption, reliability, performance, change failure rate, recovery time, automation coverage and value realization

  • Maintain accountability for platform availability, resiliency, observability, capacity, incident response, operational readiness, audit support, remediation, vendor performance, contracts, licensing and cost optimization

  • Lead, coach, recruit and develop a high-performing multidisciplinary team, including managed service partners, while building strong relationships with senior technology and business stakeholders to drive enterprise adoption and organizational change

What You Bring

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, computer science or a related field

  • Ten or more years of relevant technology experience, including progressive leadership responsibility in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Quality Engineering, cloud engineering, developer experience or software engineering

  • Deep knowledge of enterprise DevOps, Platform Engineering and Quality Engineering, including CI/CD, test automation, cloud-native engineering, observability, secrets management, container deployment, Infrastructure as Code and software delivery controls

  • Strong experience with enterprise technologies such as AWS, Terraform, GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions, GitHub Copilot, SonarQube, HashiCorp Vault, Artifactory, Argo CD, Elastic Observability, Jira, Jira Align and Confluence

  • Demonstrated experience advancing DevSecOps, Quality Engineering, developer experience and AI-enabled software delivery while maintaining delivery speed, software quality, usability and production stability

  • Proven people leadership, stakeholder influence, vendor management and financial management experience, including ownership of roadmaps, technology lifecycle, contracts, licensing, budgets and cost optimization

  • Experience leading Agile product delivery and engineering practices; experience in financial services, asset management, pension management or another complex enterprise technology environment is an asset
