Software Engineering Director

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineering Director with strong technical and leadership expertise to design, build, and scale enterprise data platforms. This role combines hands-on engineering with strategic leadership, focusing on AI/ML, advanced analytics, and modern distributed systems. The candidate will lead cross-functional teams, drive innovation, and deliver scalable solutions aligned with business objectives.

Location: McLean, VA (On-site, MondayFriday)

Salary Range: Competitive, based on experience

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Overall 10 years of hands-on software development experience including Java,.Net, Python, Cloud-AWS, Microservices, Kubernetes, Angular- last 5 years of versions in all.
  • 7-8 years of leadership experience and people management skills, including leading, mentoring, and influencing developers.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 15 years of software engineering experience (5 years in data engineering).
  • Strong experience with AWS/GCP/Azure cloud platforms.
  • Applicants must be able to work directly for Artech on W2.
  • Prior work experience at client or in client's industry.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience with Snowflake, Tableau, SageMaker or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, and data quality.
  • Exposure to Generative AI, LLMs, and AI/ML integration.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Drive technical strategy and architecture for scalable, data-driven applications.
  • Lead development of microservices-based and AI-powered platforms.
  • Build reusable components and scalable engineering frameworks.
  • Oversee API-based integrations and enterprise system design.
  • Guide teams in adopting modern technologies and engineering best practices.
