About The Role

Summary:

The Corporate Network Engineer III is a key contributor in designing, implementing, maintaining and supporting the enterprise network infrastructure, ensuring its reliability, security, and performance. This position plays a key role in the work effort for the installation of routers, switches, access points, firewalls, collaboration equipment and third-party application hardware and software. The Network Engineer III is a subject matter expert for multiple network technologies and a source of reference for other network engineers.

This role will implement, support, and maintain the organization's network infrastructure, include the implementation and design of hardware and software and participating in efforts to set IT network/video/voice architecture and standards ensuring solutions are compliant and meet GBCI IT standards.

This position collaborates with Enterprise Architecture, the Network Team Lead, vendors, and service providers to architect, design, implement, and support enterprise infrastructure solutions to support the GBCI business requirements.

This position will exercise discretion and independent judgment in the design and implementation of the architecture, development, testing, documentation, and support of key network solutions.

The entry rate for this position is $98,243.80 + /year (calculated for Kalispell, MT). All compensation offers are analyzed individually and take into consideration multiple factors including but not limited to geographic location, years of experience, and educational background.

Description

General Network Responsibilities

  • Stay current with Networking products and industry trends, working with project and engineering teams, business partners and suppliers to continually improve and align GBCI’s Network strategy with GBCI business leadership priorities as well as other GBCI IT strategies and practices.
  • Collaborate with GBCI IT architecture and engineering functions, including data center and information security teams to better understand and meet networking and connectivity needs of GBCI Divisions, through service and process improvements.
  • Work closely with solution providers to understand communications and service roadmaps and assist management in ensuring readiness to deploy new functions.
  • Ensure all Network documentation is kept current and accurate for topologies, system configurations, including dependencies on supporting infrastructure as well as GBCI-specific IP, routing, VLAN, DNS, circuit information, etc.
  • Create configuration, deployment guideline and standards.
  • Assist NIT leadership with vendor management with relation to projects, support, and service delivery.
  • Report service quality, bandwidth, latency, system capacity, licensing, and uptime metrics.
  • Report on and drive resolution for issues related to standards and process inefficiencies and other opportunities for continual improvement.

Network Infrastructure Engineering

  • Design, and Support Gigabit Ethernet Switching/Routing (EIGRP & BGP), IPv4
  • Design, and Support Enterprise WIFI solutions.
  • Build and Implement Diverse Wide Area Networking Environments
  • Build and implement QoS for a voice / video / data network environment.
  • Develops and generates conceptual, logical, and physical network architectures, resulting documents and drawings, testing analyses, test plans, and risk assessments to ensure sound architecture.
  • Provide operational support services for various network and video solutions.
  • Plans network layouts and configures systems to user environments.
  • Analyzes network topologies and traffic and capacity requirements.
  • Experience with Azure cloud networking preferred.
  • Work with internal and external customers to fill information gaps and communicate architecture and technical solutions.
  • Support the acquisition of hardware and software.
  • Perform Network Engineering and Architecture Duties for a distributed Wide Area Networking environment.

Service Delivery and Project Support

  • Function as a subject matter expert on projects that have network requirements
  • Contribute to projects by completing assigned responsibilities by agreed deadlines, and effectively communicating with the project team.
  • Identify, recommend, and coordinate process improvements within and across related departments to increase efficiency and improve service delivery.

Escalated Incident Support

  • Provide network support at a Tier III level.
  • Training and guidance to Network Administrators and more junior Network Engineers.
  • Respond to escalated support needs such as complex or major incident resolution and broad scale change requests for Network systems and services.
  • Collaborative troubleshooting with other teams including port/protocol diagnostics, metrics and log review for networking clients and devices
  • Provide technical support for Tier IV incidents
  • Must comply with all company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Must complete the assigned online training courses and achieve a passing score by due date.
