Software Engineer

The Opportunity:

As an embedded software engineer, you know how to create and maintain crucial pieces of software. You use your knowledge to write and optimize code that creates a bridge between pieces of software, allowing them to communicate. We're looking for an embedded software engineer like you to develop technology for our clients' most important mission-forward challenges.

As an embedded software engineer at Booz Allen, you'll support the development of systems and tools for our clients. Using the latest tools and technology, you'll write, test, and edit code in support of the team's overall results. You'll strengthen your skills as you develop as well as configure solutions based on the platform being used. You'll partner with team leadership to troubleshoot and correct operational issues.

You Have:

  • Experience in C++ programming

  • Experience with full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, integrating, and delivery of software solutions

  • Experience maintaining and expanding state machine design

  • Experience in conducting research, embracing new technologies, and applying learned concepts to project needs

  • Experience working within Linux environments

  • Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams, including developers, testers, engineers, and subject matter experts

  • Ability to work on-site up to five days a week in indoor labs and outdoor testing environments

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time

  • Secret clearance

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or computer engineering and 3+ years of experience with software development or 7+ years of experience with software development in lieu of a degree

Nice If You Have:

  • 4+ years of experience with professional software development

  • Experience in microcontroller development using languages such as C++ and Rust

  • Experience with network interface development and communication protocols

  • Experience in utilizing automated testing tools

  • Experience working with Docker containers

  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $69,300.00 to $158,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
