Senior Full Stack Software Engineer (Remote)
Department: Tech Dev
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: Denton, Texas
Description
Be a Part of our Team!
Join a working team that is dedicated to the mission of the work we do!
Teaching Strategies is an innovative edtech organization focused on connecting teachers, children, and families. As front runners in the early childhood education market, we build dynamic, top-quality digital products that integrate all of the essential elements of a high-quality solution: curriculum, assessment, professional development, and family engagement. We are building a team of results-oriented individuals who will thrive in a collaborative, work-hard/play-hard culture. We pride ourselves on the impact we have on the early childhood field through supporting teachers who are doing the most important work there is, teaching children to become creative, confident thinkers.
Position Overview
We build planning and curriculum experiences that help educators create, manage, and deliver meaningful learning experiences. Planning is a central part of our product ecosystem, and our systems support complex, customer-facing workflows that must remain reliable, scalable, and maintainable as the product evolves.
We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer with a strong backend focus. This role will design and evolve the services, data models, APIs, integrations, and release practices behind our product, while collaborating effectively with frontend engineers and contributing to user-facing work when needed.
The ideal candidate has deep backend engineering judgment, can lead complex initiatives through delivery, and brings an open mind to improving systems and technical direction. They communicate technical decisions, progress, risks, and dependencies clearly to stakeholders.
Specific Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services supporting planning and curriculum workflows.
  • Build and evolve APIs, integration contracts, data models, and database migrations.
  • Develop and optimize backend services using Go and PostgreSQL.
  • Lead technical initiatives from discovery through delivery, including solution design, implementation, validation, and release.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, performance bottlenecks, and complex cross-system behavior; implement durable solutions.
  • Own the quality of releases, including testing, validation, deployment readiness, and post-release follow-through.
  • Work closely with product, design, QA, and engineering partners to deliver cohesive end-to-end experiences.
  • Evaluate existing approaches and recommend pragmatic new solutions or technical directions that better serve customers and the product.
  • Contribute to architecture, documentation, engineering standards, and practices that improve system maintainability and developer effectiveness.
  • Participate in code reviews, planning, and architectural discussions.
  • Mentor engineers and promote high standards for code quality, testing, reliability, accessibility, and maintainability.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools and agentic workflows thoughtfully to improve debugging, validation, automation, and delivery.

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of professional experience building and maintaining production software systems.
  • Strong experience developing backend services with Go.
  • Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, including schema design, migrations, query optimization, and production data considerations.
  • Experience designing and maintaining APIs, service boundaries, and integration contracts.
  • Experience working with distributed systems, caching, event-driven integrations, or asynchronous processing.
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving production issues in complex systems.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and make sound architectural decisions.
  • Strong debugging, testing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills across engineering, product, design, and quality teams.
  • Ability to identify risks, communicate tradeoffs, and keep stakeholders informed without creating unnecessary overhead.
  • Ability to balance technical excellence with pragmatic product delivery.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to engineering best practices.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows and modern developer productivity tools.

Preferred (but not mandatory):
  • Experience with React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript development.
  • Experience with AWS and cloud infrastructure, including deploying, operating, or troubleshooting cloud-hosted applications.
  • Familiarity with consuming or integrating with GraphQL APIs.
  • Experience with curriculum, planning, content, or similarly complex workflow-driven SaaS products.
  • Experience modernizing legacy systems while continuing to deliver customer value.
