Position Summary:
Reporting to the Deputy Registrar, the Undergraduate Recruitment & Young Alumni Engagement Associate supports the development and implementation of initiatives that connect prospective undergraduate students with recent McGill graduates and young alumni. Working closely with the Deputy Registrar and the Associate Director of Recruitment, the incumbent will work with institutional partners across the University to help strengthen recruitment and applicant engagement efforts by showcasing the academic, professional, and personal pathways made possible through a McGill degree.
The Associate will coordinate programs and outreach activities that provide prospective students and applicants with authentic insight into student life, career trajectories, graduate and professional studies opportunities, and the long-term value and impact of a McGill degree.
Primary Responsibilities:
Young Alumni Engagement & Network Development
- Support the development and coordination of initiatives connecting prospective undergraduate students with recent McGill alumni and graduating students.
- Assist in building and maintaining a network of young alumni volunteers interested in participating in recruitment and engagement activities in collaboration with the relevant university offices.
- Coordinate alumni participation in virtual and in-person recruitment events, applicant engagement initiatives, mentorship-style conversations, panels and webinars, outreach campaigns, regional and international recruitment activities.
- Help cultivate sustained relationships with young alumni across diverse academic disciplines, career sectors, and geographic regions.
Prospective Student Engagement & Yield Initiatives
- Support initiatives designed to strengthen offer-to-acceptance conversion through alumni and peer engagement.
- Assist in the organization of opportunities for prospective and admitted students to engage with recent graduates regarding career pathways, graduate and professional studies, experiential learning opportunities, international mobility, transition from university to workforce, student life and community experience.
- Assist in organizing applicant-focused events and engagement programming featuring alumni and recent graduates.
- Support targeted outreach efforts tailored to different student populations and recruitment markets.
Storytelling, Communications & Content Development
- Contribute to the development of communications and engagement materials highlighting the impact and outcomes of a McGill education.
- Contribute to the creation of recruitment content focused on career trajectories, innovation and leadership, graduate studies pathways, global mobility, social impact, interdisciplinary opportunities.
- Contribute to ensuring that messaging aligns with institutional priorities and reflects the diversity of the McGill student and alumni experience.
- Propose, plan and participate in individual and/or team virtual and in-person visits representing McGill to Canadian and International High Schools.
- Participate in McGill undergraduate recruitment events, targeting prospective students, applicants, admitted and confirmed students, parents and counselors, including virtual and on and off campus events.
- Present information and promotional material about McGill, including undergraduate admissions criteria, academic programs, student life and services, and our campuses.
- Participate with other members of the recruitment team in recruitment activities representing McGill.
- Liaise with the Admissions Office to help ensure alignment of the recruitment and yield planning .
- Use the current recruiting software and data to plan, schedule, and track activities.
- Support social media campaigns for prospective and admitted students.
- Responsible for the supervision, workload distribution (including the scheduling of hours), evaluation, and training of all alumni volunteers who assist in recruitment activities including but not limited to in-person activities and in support of online activities (such as webinars, drop-in sessions, and social media takeovers).
- Participate and support recruitment trainings and takes part in professional development activities in order to remain well informed of university practices and programs and ensures strong delivery of information and support of our prospective students and their support networks.
- Represents McGill unaccompanied, attends in-person and virtual High Schools visits, and university fairs and prepares presentations and documents, and ensures follow up with counsellors (as needed).
- Prepares travel schedules, makes travel arrangements, monitors trip budget, updates the relationship management system, prepares visit reports, and expense reports upon return and makes suggestions for future improvements.
- Ensures follow-up on issues and /or problems raised during and after visits.
Education & Experience
- Undergraduate degree completed within the past one to three years.
- Demonstrated interest in higher education administration, alumni engagement, student recruitment, communications, stakeholder engagement, or related fields.
- Experience in student leadership, ambassador programs, mentorship initiatives, event coordination, communications, or community engagement.
- Strong familiarity with the McGill undergraduate student experience and transition to post-graduate pathways is preferred.
- International experience and/or multilingualism is an asset.
Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies

Experience advising potential students on admissions criteria. Knowledge of the student life cycle an asset. McGill undergraduate experience an asset. Ability to support staff in their daily administrative operations. Proven organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and multi-task accurately with attention to detail. Experience working in a PC environment using databases, presentation software, web tools, and Microsoft Teams. Excellent interpersonal, communication, public speaking, and writing skills. Proven experience organizing events and fairs locally and at out-of-town venues. Experience with professional social media campaigns, creation of dynamic slide presentations, an asset. Proven ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team. Valid Quebec Driver's license and valid Canadian Passport. Ability to travel extensively and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
