Job description

Are you an expert in low-level software architectures who holds the credentials to find compliance for advanced, safety-critical airborne systems?
We are conducting a search for a Senior Software Airworthiness Engineer to join a premier global provider of high-assurance, open-architecture real-time systems and software tools. In this role, you will apply deep system architecture expertise to certification strategies, shaping competitive and compliant approaches for modular software environments. Working closely with engineering, product development, and external regulatory contacts, you will drive compliance substantiation, oversee technical data verification, and support major product deployment initiatives across aerospace and defense markets.
Key Responsibilities
  • Govern the software safety and compliance pipeline for a portfolio of secure, high-performance runtime solutions and embedded tools.
  • Translate complex airworthiness regulations and safety-critical standards into actionable, long-term engineering development plans.
  • Execute deep-dive reviews of software requirements, code modules, and testing artifacts to identify and rectify compliance gaps.
  • Draft high-level business justifications and technical specifications to secure internal and external buy-in for safety-critical implementations.
  • Facilitate the end-to-end certification process for new software releases, ensuring audit readiness from project kickoff to final approval.
  • Serve as a primary technical authority during secure customer engagements, advising partners on system-level tradeoffs, noise figure variables, and partition integrity.
  • Develop and deliver technical training, compliance roadmaps, and reference materials for internal software engineering units and global clients.

Core Qualifications
  • FAA Designated Engineering Representative holding a valid credential for software approval (Company DER or Consultant DER).
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional background within the aerospace, defense, or high-reliability embedded electronics industry.
  • Deep technical specialization in DO-178C architectures, including advanced data conversion, algorithm analysis, and software partitioning.
  • Mastery of transitioning theoretical safety requirements into practical hardware and software implementations, with a keen eye for integration hurdles.
  • Skilled in optimizing system-level variables regarding multi-core processor allocation and matching systems to modern multi-core advisory circulars.
  • Demonstrated success navigating the New Product Introduction process for safety-certified or secure-operating systems.
  • Familiarity with writing requirements that align with rigorous international military, commercial aviation, and cybersecurity standards.
  • Persuasive communicator capable of driving results through influential leadership in a matrixed organization.
If you are a motivated engineer-turned-compliance-strategist who excels at turning sophisticated technical concepts into certified, market-leading products, we invite you to apply. This role offers a high-visibility platform to influence the trajectory of mission-critical embedded technology. Take the next step in your career by providing your resume and a summary of your airworthiness successes to Webster & Webster Associates today.
