Mercury Marine- Oshkosh, WI- Mercury Marine: Software Validation Intern

Position Overview:

As part of the Software Validation team, you will be part of a team that designs and executes testing for mobile applications, embedded controllers, and dealer service tools. The testing is documentation driven, so an applicant with great documentation and communication skills is a must. Someone who has a curious and creative mind to come up with new test cases and has a willingness to learn is another must. With Mercury having a wide variety of testing needs, applicants need to be flexible and able to move from one type of project to another when needed. Validation tasks are performed using simulators as well as on-vessel. In addition to performing validation tasks, the applicant may also be required to aid in the design and setup of test fixtures, as well as help design and implement automated test software.

Essential Functions:

  • Design and develop test plans and test cases for mobile applications, embedded controllers and Windows based applications.

  • Perform regression, exploratory and integration testing on cell phones, tablets and embedded hardware.

  • Perform testing on embedded controllers

  • Develop and maintain automated tests

  • Test software functionality, document issues, and report results to Software Engineering team.

  • Assist Software Engineers to find solutions to issues which were discovered during testing

Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.

Required Qualifications:

  • Working towards a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering

  • Minimum second semester sophomore status with 48 completed credits

  • Availability to work full-time (40 or more hours per week) during the the months May through August of 2027.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using Python programming language

  • Working knowledge of C, C++, or C#

  • Working knowledge of recreational boating industry and boating activities.

  • Project Work: The work environment is supportive, collaborative, and conducive to learning. Student co-ops or interns typically work on specific projects or tasks that contribute to the organization's goals. This may range from supporting larger projects to handling smaller, individual assignments.

  • Hours: Co-ops and Interns are expected to work a full 40-hour work week

  • Feedback and Performance Reviews: As a co-op or intern, you will receive feedback and performance reviews throughout your assignment. We value the importance for interns to understand their progress and areas for improvement.

The pay range for this position is $18.00-27.50 per hour. The actual hourly rate offered will vary depending on multiple factors including year in school/credits earned, degree, job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate's qualifications and the business context.
