Purpose:

This Manager, Software Engineering professional, leads a team of software developers working on mission critical telecom and enterprise applications ensuring projects are completed efficiently, on time, and within budget. The manager assumes direct supervision of individual contributors (developers). The manager is responsible for both technical oversight and personnel management, fostering a productive and collaborative work environment. The manager works closely with software developer team leads and senior software development manager.


Responsibilities: 

  • This management-level professional leads a team of software developers working on mission critical telecom and enterprise applications ensuring projects are completed efficiently, on time, and within budget. 
  • The manager assumes direct supervision of individual contributors (developers). The manager is responsible for both technical oversight and personnel management, fostering a productive and collaborative work environment.
  • The manager works closely with software developer team leads and senior software development manager.
  • Team Leadership: Leading, motivating, and guiding a team of software developers.
  • Project Management: overseeing project planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. 
  • Technical Oversight: providing technical guidance, ensuring code quality, selecting relevant processes and tools and promoting adherence to best practices.
  • Personnel Management: Conducting performance reviews, providing feedback, and supporting career development for team members. 
  • Collaboration: facilitating communication and collaboration between the software development team and other stakeholders. Identifying and mitigating dependencies.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in leading a team developer through full development lifecycles.
  • Experience with high availability systems development and maintenance.
  • Experience with call processing, telephony standards and/or analytics. 
  • Experience with project planning, execution and tracking.
  • Familiarity with Jira for ticket assignment, release planning and team velocity calculation. 
  • Experience with cloud native design, stateless services, in-memory databases, store-and-forward queues (e.g RabbitMQ, Kafka, Redis Streams) will be considered an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with positive work ethic. 
  • Able to motivate mentor and manage a team effectively.
  • Able to analyze and resolve technical and personnel-related issues.
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Self-managed proactive work style.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Language: English or French, bilingual will be considered as an asset.  

Education:

  • University Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
