Software Engineer Korean information

What is a software engineer?

Software Engineers are professionals who design, develop, test, and maintain software applications or systems. They use programming languages and engineering principles to create software that meets user needs or solves specific problems. In Korea, Software Engineers may work in various industries such as technology, finance, or manufacturing, often collaborating with other engineers and stakeholders. Their responsibilities can include writing code, debugging issues, and ensuring the security and efficiency of software products.

How does being a Korean-speaking software engineer influence collaboration within multicultural development teams?

As a Korean-speaking Software Engineer, you often act as a bridge between teams based in Korea and those in other regions. This role enables smoother communication, helps clarify technical requirements, and facilitates knowledge sharing across language barriers. You'll likely participate in bilingual meetings, translate documentation, and ensure that cultural nuances are respected, which can be both rewarding and challenging. Effective collaboration in multicultural teams can also lead to unique opportunities for professional growth and increased responsibility.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a software engineer Korean?

To thrive as a Software Engineer Korean, you need strong programming skills (such as Java, Python, or C++), knowledge of software development methodologies, and typically a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with version control systems (like Git), integrated development environments (IDEs), and possibly certifications in Korean IT standards or global frameworks is important. Excellent problem-solving abilities, teamwork, and effective communication—especially bilingual proficiency in Korean and English—set candidates apart. These skills and qualifications ensure high-quality software solutions, smooth collaboration in multinational teams, and the ability to meet both technical and linguistic project requirements.

Company Overview

We are a global leader in HVAC and consumer electronics solutions. Our North American R&D and engineering team works closely with Global HQ in South Korea to develop and validate advanced HVAC control systems tailored to the North American market. We are seeking a mid-level engineer to lead system integration testing, controls validation, and technical coordination between HQ and U.S. operations.

Position Summary

The HVAC Controls & System Integration Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert for proprietary control systems and integration solutions. This role is responsible for system integration testing, lab and field validation, regulatory awareness, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure successful deployment of HVAC control solutions in the North American market.

This position requires both strong technical depth and the ability to operate in a consultative and leadership capacity across internal teams, distribution partners, and Global HQ.

Key Responsibilities

  1. System Integration & Technical Leadership
  • Lead system integration testing for HVAC control systems, gateways, and cloud-connected platforms.
  • Establish and manage lab environments to replicate field conditions and troubleshoot system-level issues.
  • Capture and analyze communication logs (BACnet, Modbus, RS485, UART, etc.) for root cause analysis.
  • Support integrated validation of cloud-based HVAC control platforms.
  1. Controls Communication & Interface Optimization
  • Verify Point Lists and communication interfaces between HVAC equipment and BAS systems.
  • Troubleshoot serial communication protocols (RS485, Modbus, BACnet).
  • Optimize system interoperability and compatibility across devices and networks.
  1. HQ & Cross-Regional Collaboration
  • Serve as primary technical liaison between North America and Global HQ (Korea).
  • Communicate technical findings, market needs, and validation results clearly and effectively in Korean and English.
  • Proactively gather knowledge from HQ to strengthen U.S. operations.
  1. Product Application & Pre-/Post-Sales Support
  • Support pre-sales technical assessments and on-site control system evaluations.
  • Develop application guidelines, technical documentation, and training materials.
  • Deliver product and application training to internal teams, reps, and partners.
  • Provide consultative support to distributors and end users.
  1. Industry & Regulatory Awareness
  • Monitor North American HVAC regulations and standards (e.g., Title 24, AHRI).
  • Track industry trends and evolving control technologies.
  • Identify technical opportunities for market expansion and product improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in HVAC controls, system integration, or related controls industry.
  • Hands-on experience with system integration testing.
  • Strong troubleshooting knowledge of hardware and software systems.
  • Experience with serial communication protocols (RS485, Modbus, BACnet).
  • Ability to set up lab environments including electrical wiring and PCBA-level testing.
  • Fluent Korean language skills (required for HQ collaboration).
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with VRF or ductless mini-split systems.
  • Experience with embedded systems or microcontrollers.
  • Familiarity with cloud-connected HVAC platforms.
  • Programming experience (C, C#, or similar).
  • Experience developing technical documentation or training materials.
  • Experience with mobile control applications (e.g., LG ThinQ or similar platforms).
