The Role

The Associate Process Engineer will be responsible to provide the support to monitor, troubleshoot and report performance of high-volume manufacturing processes in a safe, environmentally sound and economic manner. Also responsible for investigating, designing, and conducting projects aimed at continuous improvement and support new product development involving high-purity used in advanced, integrated circuit nodes.

Job Description Key responsibilities for this role include:
  • Monitor daily production for high volume manufacturing processes for key processes.
    • Document procedures for process of record for key processes/products. Update work instructions; verify batch records and documentation.
    • Support and participate in environmental, safety and health and quality department programs and requirements.
    • Conduct Hazard assessments including OHSAS, Environmental Assessments.
    • Investigate Nonconforming Materials, report findings to internal MRB and process paperwork.
  • Providing problem solving expertise for a wide range of technical problems of various engineering projects.
    • Participate in customer meetings, audits and answer customer complaints using an 8D or customer formats as required.
  • Conduct and document trend review investigation
    • Analyze statistical process control performance, OOC's and trend alerts. Requires use of Excel, JMP or other statistical software.
  • Lead Process Engineering Development
    • Direct and oversee process improvement initiatives for Fujifilm's ultrapure solvents (UPS), focusing on advanced purification techniques such as nano-filtration and distillation. Ensure these processes are effectively documented and promoted.
  • Guide New Product Development (NPD) and Continuous Improvement (CIP)
    • Manage projects from pilot scale through to high-volume manufacturing (HVM), ensuring smooth transitions and scalability.
    • Conduct shelf-life studies on new or existing products in finished good packaging and prepare technical reports.
    • Prepare MOCs as required.
    • Generate Engineering Change Notices
  • Align Raw Materials and Strategic Sourcing
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including business/sales, procurement, engineering, manufacturing, and R&D-to ensure raw materials and sourcing strategies align with PCS/SQC objectives.
  • Set Packaging Standards
    • Establish and document specifications for next-generation product packaging, including a detailed evaluation of materials of construction and their impact on finished product quality. Provide recommendations for future needs based on data-driven analysis.
  • Coordinate with Customers and Suppliers
    • Collaborate in conjunction with the business team, with strategic customers and suppliers to develop and implement mutually beneficial Process Technology roadmaps for FEUS.
  • Execute design of experiments (DOE)
    • Design and conduct experiments to fully understand the effects of raw materials and process variables on finished product quality. Analyze results to refine experimental approaches and support successful product introductions.
    • Responsible for planning and executing projects as assigned by supervisor
  • Contribute to process control Technology
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust process control technologies for measurable process and analytical chemical parameters, both in-house and at supplier locations.
  • Research and implement advanced process technologies
  • Investigate and integrate new process technologies-such as filtration, distillation, and ion exchange and in-situ metrology to ensure Fujifilm adopts and utilizes state-of-the-art advancements.
REQUIREMENTS
  • The position requires a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering (an advanced degree is preferred) and at least 9 years of experience high volume chemical manufacturing, chemical purification processes, engineering, scale-up, and production roles. Other engineering disciplines will be considered based on experience with technology development and the manufacturing of ultrapure, electronic grade chemicals.
  • Candidate must have demonstrated significant hands-on contributions to process management and the scale-up of new products.
  • The candidate must possess subject matter expertise in process simulation and pilot production, with a specific focus on advanced purification techniques, including distillation and filtration. Additionally, strong engineering skills are required, with a thorough understanding of Six Sigma quality principles, Design of Experiments (DOE), Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), problem-solving techniques, and statistical methods.
  • The ability to document engineering projects and experimental designs in a structured, disciplined manner is essential, as are excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • A strong background in project management is critical for this role, ensuring projects are executed successfully, milestones are met, and objectives are achieved.
  • The candidate must be capable of addressing complex problems with logical and effective solutions while advancing team goals.
  • The position requires a proactive and adaptable professional who can quickly learn and align with the organization's mindset and structure, all while responding to evolving customer requirements. A high-energy individual who can work both independently and collaboratively is ideal for this position.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time.
