About the Role
As a Software Engineering Professional, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and deploying Caterpillar's cutting-edge digital platform. You will contribute to building a world-class platform that supports a diverse range of digital applications. Your responsibilities will span across various functional areas, including new program development and the maintenance of existing mobile, web, and cloud systems.
What You Will Do
You will collaborate with software engineers, product teams, and business partners to design, develop, test, and deploy digital solutions that help Caterpillar customers operate more safely, efficiently, and sustainably. You'll contribute to real-world projects while building technical and professional skills through hands-on experience and mentorship.

What You Will Have - Skills and Experiences
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment

  • Effective Communications: understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors

  • Software Development: knowledge of software development tools and activities; ability to produce software products or systems in line with product requirements

  • Software Development Life Cycle: knowledge of software development life cycle; ability to use a structured methodology for delivering and managing new or enhanced software products to the marketplace

  • Software Integration Engineering: knowledge of software integration processes and functions; ability to design, develop and maintain interfaces and linkage to alternative platforms and software packages

  • Software Product Design/Architecture: knowledge of software product design; ability to convert market requirements into software product design

  • Software Product Technical Knowledge: knowledge of technical aspects of a software product; ability to design, configure and integrate technical aspects of software products

  • Software Product Testing: knowledge of software product testing; ability to design, plan, and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure software product quality and adherence to stated requirements

Top Candidates May Have:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related degree (selected candidates must complete their degree by their start date)

  • 0-2 years of relevant experience related to this field (internships or academic projects are a plus)

  • Minimum cumulative GPA requirement 3.0/ 4.0 (no rounding)

  • Experience through internships, personal projects, research, hackathons, student organizations, or coursework is highly valued

Summary Pay Range:
$89,210.00 - $144,960.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
