Job Location: Grand Forks, ND

Consider joining our team with the following opportunity:
 
A Civil Engineer Intern with Houston Engineering Inc. (HEI) will spend time in the field working on outdoor construction phase activities as well as a variety of in-office projects assisting engineers. Specifically, this summer will include construction observation on Columbia Road and various parking ramps in Grand Forks. 

Job Description

As an intern, responsibilities may include some or all of the following:

  • Assist with plan specifications and estimates as well as documenting construction activities.
  • Assist with AutoCAD Civil 3D drawings and update redlines with various project set drawings.
  • Operate electronic survey instruments such as GPS and Total Station.
  • Perform work in a variety of software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, ArcGIS, etc.
  • Potential observation and data collection at different types of project sites.
  • Assist with research, development and design of projects.

We strive to provide a personalized internship based on your area of interest. This may include learning how to do roadway design, geometric layout, drainage analysis, and erosion control. 

Qualifications
  • Enrolled in a Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineering, Bioproducts and Biosystem Engineering, or related Engineering program.
  • Completed coursework in general surveying and AutoCAD are preferred.
  • Able to work extended periods of time in outdoor conditions.
  • Above average math and communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and availability for overnight travel.
