Position Description:

Deploys software on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud platform and builds automation pipelines using Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools -- Maven, GIT/Stash, Jenkins, Artifactory, and uDeploy. Implements process improvements using Agile Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies -- Agile and Scrum. Enhances data engineering components using database tools -- SQL and PL/SQL. Develops front-end, middle-tier, and back-end technologies -- Java, Angular, Spring framework, Oracle, and REST Application Program Interface (APIs). Programs in KornShell (ksh) and Bash scripting languages. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates in architecture design teams.

  • Defines and implements application-level architecture.

  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.

  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.

  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.

  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.

  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.

  • Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.

  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.

  • Plans and coordinates complex project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.

  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.

  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.

  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.

  • Mentors junior team members.

  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.

  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) performing full-stack software development using Java in a financial or technology services environment.

Or, alternatively, Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) performing full-stack software development using Java in a financial or technology services environment.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") designing and deploying high-performance APIs (streaming APIs (using Spring WebFlux) and non-streaming APIs (using MyBatis and JPA)) in a financial and investment domain; integrating Swagger-Hub with Open API Specs Generator; coordinating API Gateway, implementing API authentication, and maintaining API subscription portals, using ESG and JSON Web Token (JWT) for secure and seamless access; developing and maintaining front-end applications, using Angular, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3; integrating UI components with high-performance REST APIs; and writing unit and integration test cases using Jasmine and Karma.

  • DE executing performance, chaos, and automation testing, using Cucumber Automation across all stages of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC); conducting resource-intensive tests (CPU, memory, and latency) to ensure application reliability under high loads within financial systems; and configuring Datadog for API log monitoring, creating dashboards and alerts, and analyzing chaos testing logs, using Gremlin to validate system stability.

  • DE optimizing database architectures and creating PL/SQL stored procedures, using Oracle SQL Developer; supporting streaming and non-streaming API frameworks using IntelliJ IDEA, VS Code, Insomnia, SpringBoot framework, Grafana, Stratum, and Datadog within a financial services environment, and documenting them with Confluence; performing JUnit and utPLSQL unit testing to enhance back-end reliability and automate deployment pipelines, using Jenkins; and maintaining secure certificate handling using AWS, Advanced Central Monitoring (ACM), and Venafi.

  • DE streamlining development processes to reduce time, effort, and costs within Agile environments, using JIRA and Confluence; performing back-end software development using Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP) and CodeIgniter; supporting production deployments using Jenkins; researching and analyzing new business requirements to develop effective solutions, report findings, and recommend improvements to existing systems, using best practices in CI/CD, AWS operations, and cloud infrastructure.
