Job description

Employment Type: Co-op / Internship (Full-time during co-op term)

Compensation: Paid co-op position;

compensation details shared during the interview process

Term: Fall 2026 co-op - start late August/early September 2026, approximately 15-16 weeks through mid-December 2026. Flexible/rolling start available for candidates able to begin sooner. Multi-term extension possible based on performance and academic schedule; all dates coordinated with your university's co-op calendar.

ABOUT THE ROLE

--------------

EliteUS is hiring an AI/ML Engineering Co-op to work alongside our engineering team on real, shipping projects - not busy work. You'll contribute to AI-powered features end to end: building and evaluating models, wiring up LLM/GenAI workflows, and turning prototypes into production-ready components. This is a hands-on, mentored role designed to give undergraduate students substantive engineering experience that counts toward their co-op or experiential-learning requirements.

This co-op is designed for undergraduate students and recent Bachelor's graduates in computing and data fields.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

--------------

- Build, fine-tune, and evaluate machine learning models for production use cases

- Develop LLM/GenAI application components (prompt design, retrieval pipelines, API integration)

- Write clean, tested Python and contribute to existing code base

- Help build data pipelines: collection, cleaning, labeling, and feature engineering

- Run experiments, measure results, and document findings clearly

- Collaborate with engineers and product stakeholders in daily standup and reviews

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

-----------------------

- Currently enrolled in, or recently completed, a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML, Software Engineering, or a closely related field

- Strong academic record - minimum 3.5 GPA (4.0 scale) or equivalent

- Solid programming fundamentals in Python

- Coursework or project experience in machine learning, statistics, or data structures

- Ability to work on-site at our Edison, NJ location for the full co-op term

- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for current or future visa sponsorship

PREFERRED (NICE TO HAVE)

------------------------

- Personal, academic, or hackathon projects involving ML, data, or LLM tools

- Familiarity with PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, or Hugging Face

- Exposure to Git, REST APIs, SQL, or cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure)

- Strong written communication - you can explain what you built and why

WHAT YOU'LL GAIN

----------------

- Direct mentorship from working engineers and structured feedback throughout the term

- Ownership of real deliverables you can show in interviews and your portfolio

- Experience across the full AI/ML lifecycle, from data to deployment

- We work with university co-op coordinators and will complete mid-term and final evaluations, learning agreements, and any documentation your program requires

PATH TO FULL-TIME

-----------------

This co-op is designed as a pipeline to full-time employment. You'll receive a mid-term check-in and a formal end-of-term performance review. Strong performers will be offered a full-time Junior AI Engineer role at the conclusion of the term - timed so enrolled students can accept before graduation. We communicate the hire/no-hire decision clearly within the final weeks of the term so you always know where you stand.

HOW TO APPLY

------------

Submit your resume and a brief note on a project you're proud of. Include your school, expected graduation date, and available co-op term(s). Portfolio, GitHub, or project links are welcome.
