Description

As a Software Engineer IV, this role is responsible for delivering production-quality software while contributing to architectural decisions, system design, and long-term technical direction. The engineer will design and implement new feature sets, improve existing applications, debug complex issues, and support sports data analytics tools and processes. This position is expected to operate with increasing independence, collaborate closely with team leads and cross-functional stakeholders, and provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers through code reviews, paired programming, and knowledge sharing.


Essential Functions

  • Own software work from discovery through release and maintenance.
  • Design, build, and improve feature sets with scalability and maintainability in mind.
  • Investigate and resolve software defects, including root-cause analysis.
  • Support customer issue investigations to ultimately improve the product useability and reliability 
  • Research technologies and industry practices to support technical decisions.
  • Help plan projects, estimate work, and identify technical risks.
  • Develop and maintain C++ and Python software for tools, automation, and production systems.
  • Maintain and modernize legacy applications while preserving critical behavior.
  • Design new components and improve existing systems.
  • Participate in code reviews and help raise team code quality.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation for designs, interfaces, and procedures.
  • Support the agile process with clear updates, planning input, and early issue identification.
  • Deliver reliable, scalable, and maintainable production-level code.
  • Debug complex software, data, integration, and system-level issues.
  • Build tests and validation tools to verify functionality and performance.
  • Process sports data and build tools, pipelines, and reports for analysis.

Work Environment

  • This role operates in a hybrid or office-based environment, depending on company needs.
  • Work is primarily performed in an office setting with standard working hours; however, occasional after-hours support may be required.
  • The position requires frequent interaction with employees across different departments, requiring strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • The role may involve sitting for extended periods, working on a computer.
  • Able to lift 25 lbs

Requirements

Required Education, Experience & Skills

  • Degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, software engineering, or equivalent
  • 5 years of experience in software engineering
  • Experience with C++ and python
  • Experience interfacing to hardware systems
  • Strong problem solving and debugging skills
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills


Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Experience with Linux based embedded systems
  • Experience with digital signal processing, or video signal processing.
  • Experience with AWS cloud tool development
  • Experience with DevOps development
  • Passion for sports and technology; interest in golf and/or baseball
