Job description

Lead or Senior Project Engineer (PIM) - Seat Integration Team

Company:

The Seat Integration Team within Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking Lead or Senior Project Engineers (internally known as Program Integration Managers, PIMs) to join our team and make an immediate impact on urgent and long-term seating product development programs within the Puget Sound region of Washington. This role is primarily based out of Everett, Washington with the possibility of Renton-specific assignment(s) as well (would require onsite presence in Renton, Washington).

This high-visibility role involves technical assignments that directly support BCA Program's top-level goals, initiatives, and challenges. The Project Engineer will be responsible for one or more projects, providing technical, business, and integration leadership on issues requiring cross-functional and cross-organization collaboration. You will have opportunities to lead and collaborate with suppliers, customers, and colleagues globally to create and deliver innovative solutions to complex technical problems while ensuring compliance with U.S. and foreign regulations.

Available Roles:

  • Seat Program Project Engineer/PIM:Lead technical program management aspects of specific product development seat programs.
  • Supplier Aligned IPT PIM/Project Engineer:Manage product team project portfolios aligned with suppliers.
  • Deputy Airplane Program Leader:Represents SIT while leading Airplane Programs project portfolio.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical integration and program management across product development seat programs supporting the 737, 777, and 787 models.
  • Develop integrated plans, establish and lead teams, and monitor technical developments throughout customer introduction programs.
  • Manage risks and opportunities while supporting cross-functional and cross-Integrated Product Team issues.
  • Oversee cross-functional technical integration, certification, and project management to resolve complex issues and mitigate risks across a diverse portfolio of products.
  • Communicate routinely with internal and external customers, including peers, stakeholders, senior and executive leadership, airline customers, regulators, and suppliers.
  • Lead projects across interiors engineering, certification, electrical engineering, stress, software engineering, and supply chain, leveraging a strong understanding of integration between functions to drive detailed technical project plans.

Role-Specific Responsibilities:

  • Seat Program PIM/Project Engineer:Manage complex seat product development projects, ensuring alignment with critical airline customer configurations and delivery schedules. Manage program balance to go execution to support critical airplane program delivery schedules, driving integrated plans to meet commitments required for aircraft production and certification ahead of delivery.
  • Supplier Aligned IPT PIM/Project Engineer:Oversee a portfolio of seat projects across specific suppliers, fostering strong relationships and understanding supplier practices impacting Boeing certification and development schedules.
  • Deputy Airplane Program Leader:Represent SIT as Technical PIM, leading program management across portfolios for specific airplane models. Provide clear program performance updates to executive/VP leadership. Communicate progress, risks, and mitigation strategies across supply chain, factory, flight line operations, and airline customers. Identify and assess program-level risks and issues related to seat integration and On Dock performance. Work with IPT to develop and implement risk mitigation strategies in collaboration with program leadership.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work on-site at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 10+ years experience performing complex engineering or system integration work
  • 7+ years experience in leading and/or managing complex projects
  • 5+ years of experience developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with senior executives, customers, stakeholders, peers and business partners
  • 9+ years experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with certification, product development, and/or seats is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience with U.S. and/or foreign aircraft certification/regulatory processes.
  • Strong communication skills and a self-starter who takes initiative without supervision.
  • Adaptable and able to operate in a dynamic environment to meet objectives on time.
  • Certification background and/or experience working with FAA regulations and Regulatory Administration.
  • Project Management exposure/experience (e.g., PMBOK, ANSI/PMI 99-001-2008).
  • Ability to analyze, understand, organize, and communicate complex technical concepts across multiple disciplines.
  • Experience leading major design changes through various phases of the product and certification lifecycle.
  • Willingness to work outside of comfort zones where process definitions may be unclear.
  • Strong ownership and initiative, with the ability to pull teams together, establish a rhythm, and remove roadblocks.
