Job description

This posting is a full-time fully in-office position for applicants who will live and work in the Omaha, NE area. 

Working independently under minimal supervision, the software engineer participates in the design, programming, testing, documentation and implementation of complex computer applications and systems. Evaluates software packages, provides recommendations to management and business clients, and identifies best technology solutions. Identifies future needs for key technologies and techniques and develops plans for adoption.

BHE Pipeline Group consists of Berkshire Hathaway Energy's interstate natural gas pipeline companies, BHE GT&S, Kern River Gas Transmission Company and Northern Natural Gas Company. Combined, BHE Pipeline Group operates approximately 21,200 miles of pipeline with a design capacity of approximately 21.1 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day, owns assets in 27 states and is an industry leader in natural gas transportation. BHE Pipeline Group also operates 22 natural gas storage facilities with a total working gas capacity of 515.6 billion cubic feet and a liquefied natural gas export, import and storage facility.Northern Natural Gas is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. Software Engineer 2 - A minimum of four years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, or site reliability engineering

Software Engineer 3 - A minimum of five years of experience in business software application design, development, integration and/or installation.

Experience in the industry, or in an environment whose scope, size and complexity are comparable.

Consults with application users, evaluates user requests for new or modified computer applications and associated interfaces to determine feasibility, cost and time required, compatibility with current systems and computer capabilities. 

Design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications using .NET (C#, ASP.NET Core) and React.

Build and consume RESTful APIs and integrate frontend components with backend services.

Experience with SQL Server or other relational databases; ability to write efficient queries.

Implement responsive, reusable UI components using React, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3.

Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and agile ceremonies.

Performs any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
