As part of a hardworking team, interns work directly with Blue engineering teams on projects in support of our business units.
Avionics Software Intern projects vary but can include the design, development and testing of avionics hardware and software for programs ranging from orbital rockets, ground systems, test stands, to moon landers.
During your internship experience, you can expect to:
  • Gain hands on, real-world experience.

  • Receive mentorship and feedback from mentors and managers.

  • Participate in events to learn about other parts of our organization.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program and have at least one semester or quarter of school remaining after the internship.

  • Completed at least one year of full-time coursework post high school graduation at the time of application (obtained sophomore standing).

  • Available to work full time for a minimum of 15 weeks while not concurrently enrolled in coursework.

  • Strong written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong interest in Blue's mission!

  • Relevant internship/co-op and academic project experience that demonstrate development of both technical skills as well as leadership qualities.

  • Hands-on project experience.

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications (with a focus on avionics and flight systems).

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop, verify, and validate safety-critical, real-time embedded software for launch vehicle systems.

  • Participate in full software lifecycle: requirements analysis, implementation, verification, documentation, and system integration.

  • Write and review code primarily in C, C++, and Python for embedded and application environments.

  • Create and maintain tools and infrastructure to support efficient build, debugging, testing, deployment, and automation.

  • Ensure reliability, quality, and safety in all delivered software.

  • Review and update software requirements and designs for testability and verifiability.

Additional skills:
  • Programming experience in at least one major language used here: C, C++, or Python.

  • Experience (through coursework, co-ops, internships, or projects) in software development, problem solving, and debugging.

  • Exposure to software verification, test planning/execution, or automated testing.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs.

  • Relevant internship/co-op and academic project experience that demonstrate development of both technical skills as well as leadership qualities.

  • Self-driven with the ability to seek out requirements with minimal direction.

  • Strong written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Passion for Blue's Mission with a strong desire to continuously learn and improve.

  • Exposure to CI/CD.

  • ARINC Standards, UML/SW Design.

We offer housing and relocation support. Interns are responsible for daily transportation to and from their work locations.
