Lead Electrical Design & Planning for Complex Construction Projects

Fountain Services is seeking an experienced Electrical Design & Project Planning Manager to lead our Engineering, Design & Layout team supporting commercial and industrial electrical construction projects.

This leadership role is responsible for the people, processes, standards, scheduling, and quality behind our electrical layout, installation, coordination, and prefabrication drawings. You'll work closely with Project Managers, Field Operations, Procurement, and Prefabrication to ensure projects are planned accurately and executed efficiently.

We're looking for a construction leader who understands how electrical projects move from design through installation and enjoys developing teams, improving processes, and driving successful project execution.

What You'll Do

As the Electrical Design & Project Planning Manager, you will:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Engineering / Design & Layout team
  • Assign work based on project schedules, priorities, and team capacity
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Field Operations, Prefabrication, Procurement, and Project Controls
  • Establish schedules for layout, design, coordination, and prefabrication deliverables
  • Ensure drawings are accurate, coordinated, complete, and delivered on schedule
  • Review drawings for constructability, quality, and field usability
  • Identify planning gaps, scheduling conflicts, manpower constraints, and project risks before they impact field productivity
  • Maintain department standards, templates, workflows, naming conventions, and quality control processes
  • Support prefabrication by ensuring drawings and information are complete and released on time
  • Monitor department workload, schedule performance, and quality metrics
  • Lead department meetings and communicate priorities clearly
  • Drive continuous improvement through process, technology, and training initiatives
  • Foster accountability, collaboration, and a culture of continuous improvement

Electrical Design / BIM / VDC

  • 5+ years of electrical design, BIM, VDC, or layout experience
  • Experience producing installation, coordination, prefabrication, underground, overhead, rough-in, and electrical room layouts
  • Experience supporting constructability reviews and installation planning

Construction Design Technology

Experience with one or more of the following:

  • Revit
  • AutoCAD
  • Bluebeam
  • Navisworks
  • Revizto
  • BIM/VDC coordination platforms
  • Similar construction design and collaboration software

Additional Qualifications Preferred

  • Experience leading design, engineering, BIM/VDC, or project planning departments
  • Experience supporting Design-Build or Design-Assist electrical projects
  • Knowledge of NEC requirements and electrical construction best practices
  • Experience developing department KPIs, workload forecasting, or performance metrics
  • Experience implementing new construction technologies or digital workflows
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (preferred, not required)
  • Previous experience as an Engineering Manager, Design Manager, VDC Manager, BIM Manager, or similar leadership role

Pay Range
$110,000—$160,000 USD
