Job description

Position Summary:

Necco has an opportunity for a career as a Community Behavioral Health Intern. This role will provide value to the company by supporting the activities of the team and being a liaison to Community Behavioral Health. Necco’s Community Behavioral Health Program therapeutically supports children and their families in their school, home, and community environments.

The candidate selected will be responsible for the following:

Data Entry

  • Submit all documentation in a timely, accurate, and complete manner
  • Understand Medicaid requirements and billing process
  • Learn and execute Necco’s core software applications

Caseload Management & Productivity

  • Assist with Clinical Intakes and ensure medical necessity is met
  • Assist the treatment planning process from intake to discharge based on client diagnosis and need
  • Learn to provide individual, family and group mental health services, as required
  • Assist with completing accurate client records per regulations
  • Consult with parents, school personnel or other treatment team members to address client’s diagnosis, progress and barriers as needed.

Crisis Prevention/Risk Management

  • Learning to conduct safety planning, as needed
  • Submit critical incidents or other risk-related concerns in a timely manner
  • Furthering skills in therapeutic interventions in a trauma-informed way
  • Learn how to conduct assessments for medical necessity

Leadership and Development

  • Participate in clinical and/or billing supervision
  • Collaborate with the treatment team and attend team meetings
  • Works on growth and development of the clinical program through community outreach and marketing

Intern Specific

  • Develop a learning contract that marries the intern’s educational requirements with tasks and responsibilities of their position
  • Create an overarching internship project that benefits the intern as a learner and Necco

Position Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 21 Years of Age
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services-related field and currently enrolled in a Mental health graduate program (MSW, MS, Counseling)
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Auto Insurance 100/300/100
  • Training and Travel willingness
  • Excellent organizational and technological skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Successful completion of all required criminal background checks
  • Must possess the skills to navigate and execute software programs (i.e Microsoft Office, Database, Electronic Health Record, Dashboard)
  • Must have the ability to identify issues and willingness to discuss with appropriate teammates
  • Must have the ability to enter timely and accurate data
  • Must have the ability to adhere to scheduled and unplanned deadlines
