Job description

Are you passionate about quality, precision, and technology? Whether you're just starting out or looking to pivot into a new field, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you to grow your career in Non-Destructive Examination (NDE). Based in our high-tech production facility in Marshalltown, Iowa, you'll be part of a team that manufactures large, custom-designed control valves used in critical applications around the world.

This role will start in 1st shift for the first 2 to 3 years. It will then transition into a 2nd shift role.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

As a member of our NDE team, you'll receive hands-on training and mentorship to learn how to:

  • Perform ultrasonic, radiographic, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, and visual inspections on in-process materials.
  • Ensure products meet quality standards using industry-recognized testing methods.
  • Collaborate with operations, suppliers, and customers to maintain high-quality outcomes.
  • Support and maintain NDE documentation, certifications, and compliance records.
  • Help keep our NDE facility organized, safe, and efficient.
  • Participate in audits and contribute to process improvements.

Who You Are:

You may not have direct NDE experience yet, but you:

  • Have a strong interest in manufacturing, engineering, or quality assurance.
  • Are detail-oriented and eager to learn technical processes.
  • Communicate clearly and work well with others.
  • Are comfortable using computers and learning new software.
  • Are motivated to grow your skills and take initiative.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • A degree, diploma, certificate, or coursework in a related technical field (e.g., manufacturing, engineering, industrial technology), or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Basic understanding of inspection or quality control concepts is a plus.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States (sponsorship is not available for this role).

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • Familiarity with NDE methods or certifications (ASNT, AWS).
  • Experience in a manufacturing or quality-focused environment.
  • Knowledge of industry standards (ASME, ANSI, ISO 9000).
