Goodwin is seeking a creative, detail-oriented, and solutions-focused individual to join its innovative Learning & Professional Development (L&PD) team as a Learning & Professional Development Assistant. The Assistant will report to the Director of Inclusive Talent Development and will support both the global professional staff and attorney programming across the organization.
What You Will Do:
  • Assisting the L&PD senior leadership team on global learning and professional development programs for lawyers and professional staff at all levels.
  • Assisting with administrative tasks related to the firm's Goodwin 2033 strategic ten-year planning initiative.
  • Providing management and logistical support for programs/events, such as budget management, contract management, calendar management, creating and distributing invitations, securing room reservations, managing catering, preparing program materials, and on-site support during the programs/events.
  • Assisting with the planning and coordination of core professional staff trainings, including developing and implementing project plans.
  • Coordinating ongoing professional development programs, including designing feedback surveys, tracking data, and administering programs.
  • Collaborating with L&PD Managers and Directors to research, develop, and implement new training programs and initiatives.
  • Overseeing the administration of the Education Assistance Policy, American Express assignments and other reimbursement processes.
  • Assisting with the administration of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) course accreditation and compliance, including managing the firm's video library, form creation and circulation, and attendance tracking.
  • Collaborating with other administrative departments on L&PD programs and initiatives.
  • Assisting with creating and managing the department budget and tracking expenses against budget for professional staff accounts.
  • Supporting ad hoc L&PD team initiatives and projects, including those involving PowerPoint, Excel, and Survey Monkey/Microsoft Forms.

Who You Are:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a law firm, corporate setting, educational institution, or professional services environment preferred.
  • Experience with learning management systems and/or Workday is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively, professionally, courteously, and confidently with internal and external clients.
  • Sound judgment and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects with shifting priorities, with appropriate oversight.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive and collaborative work style with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications, as well as Zoom and Teams; ability to quickly learn new software.
