Navy Federal's Internal Audit team is in the midst of an exciting transformational journey to become a best-in-class Audit function! As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will help drive this transformation by administering and enhancing key audit platforms while designing and developing custom software, workflow automations, data integrations, and AI-enabled solutions that improve efficiency, insight, and risk coverage. If you are passionate about combining systems engineering, full-stack development, and emerging technologies to solve complex business problems, we want to learn more about you!
Design, analyze, configure, support, and maintain of systems software solutions. Evaluate and monitor current and planned systems software solutions. To integrate, and maintain complex systems, ensuring seamless interaction between hardware, software, and networks to support organizational IT needs. Proactively address gaps with existing support processes, documentation, and prioritize accordingly. Guide configuration, debugging, and support for infrastructure and ensure all quality and change control standards are met. Work under minimal supervision and use complete understanding of business needs and objectives to support projects that have impact on the achievement of operational goals. Advanced skill set and proficiency with procedures and techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, maintain, and support technical infrastructure that includes network, hardware, database and/or system software components.
  • Conduct routine analysis of business problems; evaluate, develop, and recommend specific technology products and platforms to provide cost-effective solutions that meet business and technology requirements.
  • Assist with root cause investigations and provide recommendations.
  • Research and design best fit infrastructure, network, database, and/or security architectures.
  • Assist in developing and implementing applicable quality and compliance standards, protocols and/or regulations.
  • Modify, program and test vendor software to enhance overall systems performance in the context of the organization and business needs.
  • Document all enhancements in a structured and systematic way to allow for more effective ongoing management of the systems.
  • Troubleshoot and debug errors during or after enhancements or upgrades to ensure system performance and availability goals are maintained.
  • Build working relationships with team members and subject matter experts.
  • Integrate hardware and software components into a cohesive system.
  • Ensure system reliability, availability, and performance.
  • Manage network configurations, servers, and IT infrastructure.
  • Monitor and maintaining operational systems to prevent downtime.
  • Lead small projects and initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience in systems engineering.
  • Complete knowledge and understanding of business area/specialization.
  • Advanced skill with technical applications/languages, information technology or engineering methods.
  • Experience with systems engineering and programming.
  • Advanced knowledge of software development methodologies and tools.
  • Experience with cloud-based technologies and services.
  • Experience with system monitoring and alerting tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge writing SQL queries and administration of SQL Servers
  • Expert knowledge of data analytics and scripting languages (Python, PowerShell)
  • Advanced knowledge of front-end development languages (JavaScript, HTML, CSS)
  • Experience developing and delivering server hosted web-app, tools, and software solutions
