Hanson Professional Services Inc. is seeking a full-time Electrical Designer (EIT) to join our team.
A Day in the Life of an Electrical Engineer / Designer (EIT) at Hanson
Here's a snapshot of what you would do in this role:
  • Support electrical design efforts on a variety of projects across the country, with emphasis on Hanson's Government market
  • Assist with planning, design, and construction support activities under the guidance of licensed Professional Engineers and project managers
  • Prepare and revise electrical drawings, specifications, and design documentation
  • Support the design of electrical power distribution systems, interior and exterior lighting systems, and fire alarm/low-voltage systems
  • Assist with lighting and power system design, grounding systems, electrical distribution layouts, and equipment selection
  • Support generator and emergency power system design
  • Prepare calculations and assist with construction administration tasks, including submittal reviews and field observations
  • Coordinate with project engineers, designers, and CAD/Revit technicians
  • Other duties as assigned

What We're Looking For
We feel the following qualifications would set you up for success in this role:
Required Education & Experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • Engineering-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within six months
  • 0-2 years of experience in consulting professional services or a closely related field
  • Familiarity with electrical drawings, specifications, and design documentation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit

Preferred Qualifications
  • Progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
  • Exposure to electrical, building, and energy codes
  • Experience working on multidisciplinary project teams
  • Understanding of power distribution, lighting systems, and electrical calculations
  • Familiarity with:
    • Lighting calculation software (Visual, AGI32)
    • Basic power system analysis tools (voltage drop, short-circuit calculations)
    • Energy analysis tools (COMcheck, FLACOM, EnergyGauge)
Soft Skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Willingness to learn and accept technical guidance
  • Strong communication and technical documentation skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Motivation to pursue professional growth and licensure

Salary Range: $75,000 - $90,000
