This position supports our Industry Market within the Building Structural Discipline, working on industrial, building, and facilities projects, as well as structural work across all Hanson markets. The role is based in Peoria, IL.
A Day in the Life of a Structural Engineer at Hanson
Here's a snapshot of what you would do in this role:
  • Support the structural needs of industrial sites and integrate structural design with civil, rail, and mechanical disciplines
  • Perform complex engineering calculations and utilize structural design software for analysis and design
  • Conduct structural analysis, prepare specifications, details, and construction plans
  • Assist with site investigations, field reconnaissance, modeling, construction document preparation, contractor pricing assistance, and project close-out documentation
  • Mentor and assign duties to entry-level staff
  • Prepare and review calculations, quantity take-offs, and opinions of probable construction costs
  • Other duties as assigned

What We're Looking For
We feel the following qualifications would set you up for success in this role:
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency with Revit (required)
  • Experience with AutoCAD (desirable)
  • Experience with MicroStation (a plus)
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (required)
  • Experience with structural design software such as RISA (required)

Soft Skills
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to engineers, clients, and stakeholders
  • Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external clients
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to solve problems and learn new skills
  • Interest in a variety of assignments and continuous professional development

Education & Experience
  • 5-15 years of structural engineering experience (desirable)
  • PE license (desirable)
  • SE license or ability to obtain one (required)
  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering (desirable)

  • Willingness to accept periodic out-of-town travel assignments
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime to meet project deadlines

Salary Range: $90,000 - $135,000
