Job Title: Junior Controls Electrical Designer

Location: Spartanburg, SC

Department: Panel Shop Division

Reports To: Director – Panel Shop Division

Job Type: Full-Time | On-site

Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Controls Electrical Designer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will assist in the design and development of electrical control systems for industrial automation projects. You’ll work closely with senior engineers to create schematics, select components, and support the build and commissioning of control panels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design of electrical control systems, including schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams.
  • Use CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar) to produce accurate and detailed drawings.
  • Select and specify electrical components such as PLCs, HMIs, sensors, relays, and power supplies.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineers.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant standards (UL 508A, NFPA 70, IEC, etc.).
  • Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback into revisions.
  • Provide support during panel assembly, testing, and troubleshooting phases.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field (Associate’s degree with experience will be considered).
  • Familiarity with electrical design tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or SolidWorks Electrical.
  • Basic understanding of industrial control systems and components.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Willingness to learn and grow within a collaborative engineering environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Internship or co-op experience in controls or automation.
  • Exposure to PLC/HMI systems and industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, etc.).
