Job description

Accountant

Reports To: Controller

Department: Finance & Accounting

Location: Hybrid – Farmerville, LA

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary

The Accountant supports the financial operations of the company's fiber broadband and fixed wireless divisions by maintaining accurate books and records, reconciling accounts, and assisting with financial reporting. This role plays a key part in managing the accounting for prepaid assets, service revenues, and vendor costs related to network expansion and operations. The ideal candidate combines strong accounting fundamentals with practical experience handling multi-entity and project-based financials in a fast-growing, infrastructure-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

· Record and reconcile daily financial transactions, ensuring accuracy in the general ledger for both corporate and field operations.

· Manage full-cycle accounts payable: review vendor invoices for materials, construction, and utilities; ensure accurate coding and approvals.

· Track and assist with capitalization of completed projects into fixed assets.

· Prepare monthly journal entries, accruals, and adjustments for operating expenses.

· Assist with processing payroll and allocating associated employee expenses

· Reconcile general ledger accounts, including cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and intercompany balances.

· Support monthly and year-end close activities, ensuring compliance with GAAP.

· Collaborate with sales operations and engineering validate job cost allocations and vendor charges.

· Maintain detailed documentation for contracts, purchase orders, and work orders tied to broadband and telecom projects.

· Assist with financial statement preparation and internal management reports.

· Support audit requests, budgeting, and variance analysis.

· Participate in ongoing process improvement initiatives to streamline accounting workflows and improve reporting accuracy.

· Perform other accounting or administrative duties as assigned to support the finance and operations teams.

Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.

· 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in telecommunications, construction, utilities, or broadband operations.

· Solid understanding of GAAP and accrual-based accounting.

· Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks Enterprise or similar ERP system).

· Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, and reconciliations).

· Working knowledge of job cost accounting, capital project tracking, and inventory/capitalization principles.

· Excellent attention to detail and analytical mindset.

· Effective communicator, able to work cross-functionally with operations and management.
