Position Overview

The AES Group Inc. is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer II to support the development, enhancement, documentation, validation, and maintenance of embedded engine-control and aftertreatment software. The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience with MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow, along with strong technical documentation and cross‑functional communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded engine-control and aftertreatment software strategies.
  • Create control logic, software models, flow diagrams, and architectures using MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow.
  • Support concept development, implementation, validation, documentation, release, and production support.
  • Troubleshoot existing production software and implement continuous improvements.
  • Prepare technical documentation, engineering diagrams, flowcharts, and ISO-aligned design documents.
  • Collaborate with software developers, systems engineers, validation teams, and other engineering stakeholders.
  • Lead technical discussions to gather requirements and develop practical software solutions.
  • Analyze engine-test data and support software-related troubleshooting.
  • Review HIL and SIL validation results and work with validation engineers to resolve issues.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Two to four years of full-time industrial embedded software development experience.
  • Hands‑on experience with MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow.
  • Experience developing or maintaining embedded control software for production systems.
  • Strong understanding of the embedded software development lifecycle.
  • Experience creating technical documentation, engineering diagrams, and flowcharts.
  • Strong written, verbal, analytical, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in automotive, heavy equipment, aerospace, industrial automation, or embedded systems.
  • Knowledge of diesel engine controls or aftertreatment systems.
  • Familiarity with Hardware-in-the-Loop and Software-in-the-Loop testing.
  • Exposure to Embedded C or C++.
  • Experience supporting software validation and interpreting test results.
Work Environment

The position is approximately 90% office-based, with occasional interaction in engine‑testing laboratories. Engineers primarily review test results electronically and support software strategy development. Standard personal protective equipment may be required when entering laboratory areas.
