JOB PROFILE SUMMARY:

The Toolmaker is responsible for the precision fabrication, assembly, maintenance, and repair of injection molds and tooling components. This role requires a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail to ensure molds meet exacting specifications and support high-performance production. The Toolmaker collaborates closely with engineering and production teams to ensure tooling solutions align with customer and manufacturing requirements.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

The individual in this position must be able to successfully perform the job duties listed below.

Responsibilities:

  •  Fabricate, assemble, and fit complex injection molds using manual and CNC machining equipment.
  •  Interpret engineering drawings, CAD files, and specifications to build and modify tooling.
  •  Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on molds to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  •  Conduct mold trials and support validation processes to ensure tooling meets quality standards.
  •  Troubleshoot and resolve tooling issues in collaboration with engineering and production teams.
  •  Maintain accurate documentation of tooling changes, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  •  Operate precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  •  Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in all tooling operations.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Work Experience:

  • 3+ years of related experience 
  • Knowledge of the injection mold building and injection molding is a plus.

Education:

  • Associate degree and completion of a certified tool and die apprenticeship program.
  •  Certification in Tool & Die Making or equivalent trade certification preferred.
  •  Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and CNC programming is a plus.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  Experience working in a high-precision mold shop environment.
  •  Familiarity with conformal cooling, collapsible cores, and multi-shot molding technologies.
  •  Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  •  Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  •  Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and working with machinery.
  •  Manual dexterity and visual acuity required for precision work.
