We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Junior API Developer with a strong interest in API development, system integrations, cloud technologies, and Artificial Intelligence (AI). In this role, you will assist in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining APIs and integration solutions that enable seamless communication between applications and business systems.

You will work closely with senior engineers, architects, product owners, QA engineers, and cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable software solutions while gaining hands-on experience with modern API platforms, cloud services, and AI-powered technologies. PLEASE NOTE that this is a hybrid position and requires working onsite at our Plano, TX office. Responsibilities are as follows:

  • Assist in the design, development, enhancement, and maintenance of RESTful APIs and integration services under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Support the implementation of new API features and enhancements to meet business requirements.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues in APIs and integrated applications.
  • Collaborate with product owners, QA engineers, and other developers throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following software engineering best practices.
  • Develop and execute unit and integration tests to ensure application quality and reliability.
  • Create and maintain API documentation using OpenAPI/Swagger or similar standards.
  • Assist with API integrations involving internal systems, third-party vendors, and cloud services.
  • Support deployment activities through CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Learn and apply API security concepts such as OAuth, JWT, and authentication/authorization mechanisms.
  • Assist in integrating AI/ML models or AI-powered services into business applications where applicable.
  • Monitor API performance, identify optimization opportunities, and participate in resolving production issues.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies in API development, cloud computing, AI, and modern software engineering.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (or currently pursuing) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Basic programming knowledge in one or more languages such as C#, Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Go.
  • Foundational understanding of RESTful APIs, HTTP methods, and JSON.
  • Basic understanding of software development principles and object-oriented programming.
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
  • Knowledge or coursework related to Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of relational databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud is desirable.
  • Familiarity with API testing tools such as Postman or Swagger/OpenAPI is a plus.
  • Exposure to CI/CD concepts and DevOps practices is an advantage.
  • Basic understanding of containers (Docker) or Kubernetes is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong willingness to learn new technologies and grow in a fast-paced engineering environment.
