Job description

Leidos is looking to fill a Configuration Manager position to support the National Digital Exploitation & OSINT Center (NDOC). This role will be responsible for configuration management (CM) of developmental and operational systems. The individual will work on developmental and operational teams to create and maintain configuration baselines. This individual will use or recommend automated CM tools to implement CM policies and procedures. This role will Implement CM discipline for the entire life cycle of systems from initial requirements/ capabilities baselines to system end-of-life and perform change control and configuration audits.
This is a 100% on-site position. All work must be performed at the customer site in Bethesda at the Intelligence Community Campus.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop design and establishes configuration management planning documentation and procedures.
  • Track system changes as identified by the team.
  • Track licenses and license usage for software and hardware.
  • Perform inventory and track management of hardware and software within the environment.
  • Develop and track schedules for COTS/GOTS software release management.
  • Provide reports on hardware/software usage as requested by the customer or program manager.
  • Manage the change control process, which includes evaluating proposed changes, assessing their impact, and coordinating with stakeholders to implement approved changes while minimizing disruption.
  • Track and report the status of configuration items throughout their lifecycle, including their current version, location, and relationships with other items. This helps stakeholders understand the state of the system and make informed decisions.
  • Track maintenance contracts on hardware and software. Develop a system to provide notifications to appropriate personnel on when maintenance contracts are going to expire or need to be renewed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for all configuration items, including specifications, requirements, design documents, and user manuals. This ensures that stakeholders have access to the information they need to understand and use the system effectively.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of configuration management activities, including project-specific configurations, change logs, milestones and project charters.
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures for configuration management processes to ensure consistency and adherence to best practices.
  • Develop and maintain an Internet Protocol (IP) Address Management (IPAM) system in conjunction with team members.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with configuration management activities that may impact project timelines, budgets, or quality.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between project teams, configuration management teams, and other stakeholders. To include but limited to track, establish and conduct technical engagement meetings.
  • Provide training and education to team members and stakeholders on configuration management processes, tools, and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain a knowledge base on system changes and outages.
  • Implement process improvement responses.
  • Establish and maintain a centralized repository for all project-related documents and artifacts, including requirements documents, design specifications, test plans, and user manuals.
  • Create briefings to provide an overview of the current status of the projects and tasks, including progress against milestones, accomplishments, challenges, and upcoming activities.
  • Conduct regular configuration audits to verify that project documentation and artifacts are accurate, complete, and up-to-date.

Basic Qualifications
  • Requires a bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience, or Masters degree with 6+ years of experience. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Several years of experience in IT or related field
  • Knowledge of version control concepts and best practices
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices related to configuration management
  • Experience managing hardware and software configuration baselines
  • Familiarity with Risk and Issue Management
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience establishing goals and plans that meet project objectives
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail
  • Track record of working effectively within a team, and support to peers toward improved processes and results.
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Strong oral and written communications skills

Clearance
  • Willingness to obtain TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph required.
  • US Citizenship is required due to the nature of the government contracts we support.

  • Several years of experience in IT or related field
