This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

As aSoftware Configuration Management (SCM) Engineerwithin the Lunar Permanence program, you will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity, traceability, and quality of flight-critical software that powers humanity's return to the Moon. You will be at the intersection of engineering, quality, and mission assurance helping to establish and maintain the rigorous software baselines that our mission depends on. You will partner with talented engineers across disciplines to implement configuration management best practices that uphold our culture of safety and mission success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a trusted partner to cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, software quality assurance, and Safety and Mission Assurance (SMA), embedding configuration management best practices into every phase of program activities
  • Manage and control software configurations across the full software development lifecycle, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency of all software baselines from development through delivery
  • Lead and facilitate Software Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), configuration audits, and compliance assessments; identify gaps and drive corrective actions to closure
  • Actively contribute to program milestone reviews - including design reviews, test reviews, and production readiness reviews - ensuring configuration management considerations are thoroughly addressed and documented
  • Provide technical guidance to software development teams on configuration management principles, software builds, and toolchain best practices
  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust configuration management processes and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards (AS9115, DO-178, DO-254) directly supporting the safety and reliability of lunar mission systems

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related STEM field
  • 5+ years of hands-on software configuration management experience in a technical environment
  • Deep understanding of Software Configuration Management principles, concepts, and implementation within Aerospace or Aviation domains
  • Demonstrated proficiency with version control systems and change management/agile planning tools such as GitLab, Jira, SVN, ClearCase or Rational Suite, Jenkins etc.
  • Strong working knowledge of software configuration management technologies and software build and release management, including IT infrastructure, development/scripting,
  • Proficiency with both Windows and Unix/Linux operating systems

Desired Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate across organizational boundaries
  • Hands-on experience with PLM tools such as Windchill, Agile PLM, Teamcenter etc.
  • Proficiency in one or more scripting languages: Python, Shell, Perl, Ruby, Batch, or YAML
  • Experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines, Gitlow workflows, and DevOps and Agile methodologies
  • Background in database administration and SWCM tool administration

Compensation Range for:

CO applicants is $150,931.00 - $211,303.05 WA applicants is $164,652.00 - $230,512.80

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
