What you'll do:

The successful candidate will primarily focus on Lumber Sales and Estimating while contributing as a Home Centre Team Member across multiple areas of the Home Centre.

Operating in a diverse and highly competitive retail environment, the Team Member will perform their responsibilities in line with our Core Values and Brand, including but not limited to:

  • Understanding and following Westview Co-op's Health and Safety Program 

  • Providing Exceptional Service to our Members and Guests and living our Brand expectations through our "You're at Home Here" motto and sharing product knowledge 

  • Working with outside vendors to coordinate and order special inventory 

  • Quote product pricing for building projects and close sales 

  • Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing clients 

  • Coordinating with delivery Team and occasionally executing deliveries as required 

  • Providing solutions and advice pertaining to general building projects 

  • Operating our point-of-sale terminals 

  • General merchandising and accurate ordering of products

  • Complete timely and accurate invoicing for Guests

  • Operate and maintain the Point of Sale (POS) system

  • Maintain accurate price files and ensure pricing integrity

  • Use Excel spreadsheets for tracking, reconciling, and reporting financial data

  • Collaborate and communicate with team members on in-store guest service management and complete other duties as assigned

  • Perform general office duties such as answering phones, handling mail, and responding to inquiries

  • Use computers and standard office equipment to efficiently complete daily tasks

This position is responsible for product knowledge and understanding of financial results including sales, margins, expenses, and inventory of the operations. Review financial statements and identify strengths and areas for improvement and look for new ways to increase sales and improve results. Understand and follow Westview Co-op's Brand Image and Westview Co-op's Policies and Procedures. Administrative duties including claims, tracking of sales, invoices and all other paperwork is done timely, accurately and meets agreed upon timelines.

Who you are: 

This is a full-time position, the candidate will have the ability to work days, evenings and weekend for approximately 40 hours per week. 

We are looking for a positive, approachable and motivated individual with a drive to learn. Previous experience with sales/estimating building materials, construction knowledge and retail experience is preferred, however we welcome candidates with a combination of relevant experience and/or education. Candidates will demonstrate the following:

Experienced and comfortable with a variety of computer programs. Seljax estimating software experience is an asset

A Class 5 Driver's License is required. Able to work days, evenings, weekends and attend offsite training and events.
