Software Asset Manager Remote information

How does a remote software asset manager typically collaborate with IT and procurement teams to ensure software compliance and cost optimization?

As a remote Software Asset Manager, you will regularly coordinate with IT and procurement teams through virtual meetings and collaborative platforms to track software usage, negotiate vendor contracts, and enforce compliance with licensing agreements. Effective communication is key, as you'll need to align stakeholders on inventory updates, renewal schedules, and policy changes. Leveraging digital asset management tools, you'll identify opportunities for cost savings and help prevent overspending or legal risks related to software misuse. Regular reporting and cross-departmental collaboration are essential parts of the role to ensure organizational goals are met.

What is a software asset manager?

Software Asset Managers are professionals responsible for overseeing and optimizing the acquisition, deployment, usage, maintenance, and disposal of software applications within an organization. Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for collaborating with distributed teams and stakeholders. These competencies ensure compliance, cost optimization, and efficient management of software assets across an organization’s remote infrastructure.

How much do software asset managers make?

Software Asset Managers typically earn a median annual salary of around $90,000 to $110,000, depending on experience, certifications, and location. Senior roles or those with specialized skills in license management and software compliance can earn higher salaries, often exceeding $130,000 annually.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  1. J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
  2. Active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  3. Minimum of 2 years in the funds department of a corporate law firm.

  5. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  6. Strong analytical capabilities and ability to translate legal expertise into actionable feedback for AI systems.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to innovation at the intersection of law and technology.
  8. Experience working with cross-disciplinary teams in fast-paced environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Prior exposure to AI, legal tech, or training initiatives.

Why Join:

  1. This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of law and technology.
  2. You will help define how AI is developed for a new generation of legal practitioners.
  3. You will apply your experience in a high-impact research environment.
