Position Summary: The Head Coach, Softball is responsible for leading aspects of IMG Academy's Softball program, including player development, team operations, training implementation, recruiting, staff leadership, and overall program culture. This role creates and maintains a high-performance environment focused on athletic excellence, student-athlete development, competitive success, and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, organize, and lead high-quality softball practices, training sessions, team development plans, and competitive preparation activities.
  • Lead the development of student-athletes' technical, tactical, physical, and mental performance within an elite softball environment.
  • Design and oversee individualized development plans and performance benchmarks for student-athletes.
  • Utilize softball technology, analytics, video review, and modern player development methodologies to maximize athlete growth and competitive performance.
  • Prepare teams and student-athletes for practices, games, tournaments, showcases, and recruiting events through structured planning and performance evaluation.
  • Collaborate with Strength & Conditioning, Sports Medicine, Mental Performance, and Performance Science teams to support holistic athlete development and injury prevention.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance softball curriculum, training systems, and coaching methodologies to ensure best-in-class program delivery.
  • Maintain open, consistent, and professional communication with student-athletes and parents/guardians regarding player development, performance goals, academics, recruiting, and overall campus experience.
  • Serve as a mentor, educator, and role model by fostering discipline, accountability, leadership, teamwork, and life skills development.
  • Monitor the athletic, academic, and emotional well-being of student-athletes and collaborate with internal departments to ensure appropriate support resources are provided.
  • Assist student-athletes and families through the college recruiting and placement process while building strong relationships with collegiate and professional programs.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and growth-oriented team culture aligned with IMG Academy values and standards.
  • Collaborate with Softball leadership to review and enhance program structure, training content, operational delivery, staffing, objectives, and resource allocation.
  • Lead recruiting and retention initiatives for prospective and current student-athletes.
  • Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain high-performing coaches and support staff.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with collegiate programs, professional organizations, scouts, tournament operators, and industry partners.
  • Support camp programming, showcases, clinics, and special softball events.
  • Assist with scheduling, travel coordination, and operational planning for games, tournaments, showcases, and team events.
  • Serve as a visible leader and ambassador for IMG Academy Softball on campus and within the broader softball community.
  • Adhere to all IMG Academy policies, procedures, safety standards, and governing body regulations including FHSAA and NCAA guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • High level of expertise in Softball coaching, player development systems, and competitive training methodologies.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience playing, coaching, or managing softball at the collegiate, professional, academy, or elite amateur level.
  • Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, Business Administration, or related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong commitment to student-athlete development, welfare, and overall experience.
  • Proven leadership ability with experience managing staff, building culture, and driving program success.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of recruiting, player evaluation, and college placement processes.
  • Experience utilizing softball technology, analytics platforms, and video analysis systems preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and leadership teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required.

  • Bilingual
  • CPR Certification
  • Valid driver's license with ability to drive for tournaments, games, travel
  • Experience working camps

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Ability to lift, move, push and pull equipment or boxes in excess of 40lbs.
  • Should be able to handle outdoor temperatures for a reasonable period of time.
  • Must be able to move around campus which includes gym, turf, fields, etc.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and holidays is required
