JOB SUMMARY

A Landscape Crew Member is responsible for assisting the Landscape Crew Leader in executing landscape plans. Some Landscape Crew Members may specialize in either enhancement or maintenance work, but all Landscape Crew Members should be willing and able to perform either enhancement or maintenance work at the discretion of their supervisor. All employees are expected to carry out the companyโ€™s purpose and demonstrate our core values.

As a Landscape Crew Member at Schill Grounds Management, you must be able to perform the following essential functions of the job:

  1. Assist Landscape Crew Leader in execution of landscape enhancement plans as instructed by the supervisor.
  2. Operating equipment including commercial zero-turn riding mowers, brake-controlled walk behind mowers, line trimmers, blowers, etc.
  3. Perform routine maintenance on equipment.
  4. Picking up trash and debris, as needed.
  5. Plant, lay sod, trim, prune as the job requires.
  6. Complete hardscape projects and outdoor lighting, as needed.
  7. Complete landscape and lawn installations, as needed.
  8. Perform any tasks related to lawn and landscape maintenance operations.
  9. Safely use various equipment including skid steer, mini excavator, sod cutters, bush hogs, brick saws, transits, various hand tools, etc.
  10. Perform snow removal in the winter months.
  11. Follow all company policies and procedures.
  12. Perform any other duties as assigned.

JOB SKILLS AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

  • Availability to work a varied schedule including Saturdays, as needed
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions including wet, rain, snow, or extreme heat or cold
  • Basic understanding of mechanical equipment maintenance
  • Ability to identify plants, preferred
  • Ability to read and follow landscape plans

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Valid driverโ€™s license is preferred, with acceptable driving record to meet fleet insurance standard

Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test

Must be able to move and/or lift up to 60 pounds consistently

High school diploma or GED, preferred

Ability to operate the equipment listed above, in addition to other commonly used landscaping equipment

WORK CONDITIONS

Employees performing this job should be able and willing to drive or travel locally if needed. Schedules for this position may vary and may require flexibility to work extended hours. Potential work hours during the snow season include nighttime, weekends, and holidays to participate inโ€ฏsnow removal activities. This position will require working outdoors in various weather conditions including rain, snow, sun, extreme cold, or heat.
