The School The role is within our School of Applied Sciences and Technology.

The School offers a variety of programming in Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Sciences, and Animal Health Technology. Through this programming, we offer a variety of certificates, diplomas, university transfer courses, as well as a degree in computing science. The Role The Humanities and Social Sciences Department has launched a social work diploma program in 2025-2026.

The program has a rural, northern, and Indigenous focus and emphasizes social practice in those contexts. The Department requires a part-time faculty member in social work to Teach two sections of SW1120, Social Work with Children, one in the fall and one in the winter Position is subject to enrollment and winter section is subject to fall faculty evaluation. This part-time position will commence on September 1, 2026.

Professional experience in a variety of social work settings, particularly in settings involving children, and instruction of post-secondary programs and courses in Social Work are an asset. Necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include: Registration in good standing with the Alberta College of Social Work; A minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in social work practice in diverse settings, particularly in rural, northern, and Indigenous contexts; Candidates must be able to apply different instructional strategies to meet the needs of students with different learning styles; Knowledge of current educational technologies (e.g., videoconferencing, learning management systems) is desired; Sensitivity to cultural competence and the promotion of diversity in program activities and curriculum; Knowledge of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action; The ability to teach both online and classroom-based courses; Student-focused; Strong organizational skills; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to build strong relationships across the organization; and A high level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
